I can’t wait for the day Mark Vientos is off this team. Dude is straight up selfish and only cares about himself out there. Here, with Workman on second, Zach McKinstry hits a fly to left that lands, and Workman is thrown out 7-5 at third base. This was ruled a single, and the question has been asked as to why. First, this is the correct scoring, as this is a single. If this were a ground ball to short, and the runner is out 6-5 at third on a ball that would have otherwise been a hit, this would have been a fielder's choice, and the difference is in the wording on rule 9.05(b)(3), which says that you do not score a hit when a: (3) pitcher, the catcher or any infielder handles a batted ball and puts out a preceding runner who is attempting to advance one base or to return to his original base, or would have put out such runner with ordinary effort except for a fielding error. 1B/3B Max Jensen, Cornell Keep an eye on this kid. Easy to fall in love with the long, athletic, 6-foot-3-inch frame. Clearly more strength coming into his upper half. Posted a .358/.455/.561 junior season. Parlayed that into a .386/.441/.648 showing in the NECL. Jensen has always shown hitterish traits with higher swing rates and above average bat-to-ball numbers. Swing doesn't have any glaring holes. He’s loose and adjustable in the box and seems to be able to get to anything. Despite his size, bat speed has never been a huge strength of Jensen’s, though it sounds like that’s been the emphasis this fall/winter. If he begins lifting the ball more frequently and getting to his pull-side like he’s capable, he’s got a chance to go inside the top-half of the draft as a priority senior. Primary first base, but sneaky athlete that looks passable at third base at this size. Just something about his film. Diamond in the rough/hidden gem type.
