Markets are hitting fresh records and this rally isn’t done. A pullback here is normal, not a warning sign, even with slightly overbought conditions. With strong earnings and easing oil prices, the worst is behind us and this is a market you want to own.

Just did a quick video on a couple of the reasons I'm cautious on the market here and why I have not yet covered my $SPY short. With that said, cycle work shows a strong tendency to rally starting sometime in April/May. We are likely looking at a cyclical decline within an on-going secular bull market. However, every bear market starts as a pullback, and when the warning signs are present, I treat a pullback as a potential bear market and step aside until the smoke clears. The biggest warning sign currently is the way individual stocks are behaving and the distribution dominate tape we are seeing. Enjoy the video. I hope it brings some insight to my thoughts on the market.

“They’re telling you this is temporary. It’s not.” Gas prices aren’t spiking because of a bad week, this is a structural shortage. Global supply is still down millions of barrels while demand hasn’t slowed. Even with emergency reserves being used, the gap isn’t closing. Experts are now warning oil could hit $160–$175. That puts the GTA on track for ~$2.40/L — not as a peak, but as the new pressure point needed to kill demand. And here’s the part no one wants to say: Even if conflicts end tomorrow, the damage is already done. Supply chains don’t snap back overnight. We’re looking at elevated energy prices through 2026… and that means inflation isn’t going anywhere either. This isn’t a temporary spike. It’s a reset.

The announcement of a ceasefire in the Middle East allowed markets to respond positively – oil prices have tumbled. At the same time, this sends the right signal regarding Russia – there are effectively no grounds left to ease sanctions pressure. Previously, easing sanctions was framed as a necessity to stabilize the global oil market. If the Strait of Hormuz can be unblocked – and this is a global necessity – Russia’s oil revenues should continue to decline. Oil fuels Russia’s war and emboldens it. This is precisely why Russia invested so heavily in supporting the Iranian regime and sought to prolong that war.
