The premise of the reporter's question is laughable. He actually called negros "immigrants" that are like other immigrant groups when Black folks came here in 1619 before America was even founded because they were kidnapped & enslaved. "Kidnapped" means TAKEN AGAINST THEIR WILL.

The only reason these "other groups"/Immigrants (all ethnicities) have equality is bc OUR ancestors & elders fought, marched, protested, were jailed, beaten, and were k!lled for Equality/Civil Rights . Those Civil Rights Movement weren't just for Black ppl, they were for everyone

King was a great man, but he was just a man with his own preconceptions and biases. Slavery was and is an obscenity that is better eradicated. Slaves were unpaid but received food and shelter. Many were educated to various levels. No compensation for no freedom but not the implied destitution. The entire South was devastated, economically ruined and that was made worse by carpetbaggers and crooks. Many exslaves were assisted and given a start, many others left for the frontier or other places. Systematic oppression did occur as did multiple sources of support. The nation took time to correct the mistakes of the past, the mistakes of the present will also take time. That being said, there are numerous opportunities for the descendants of slaves just as there are for the descendants of the indentured, the dependents of the wealthy who lost everything and the immigrants who skipped all of those issues. Each story is unique to the person. Every person has the same start but every family is not the same. They never have been. Ever. Stop blaming others who have a different skin color for the failures of those who fail.
