Tbh Mary was scolding both of them equally but I know Mary doesn’t play about someone disrespecting her and her events so this was probably what did it for her. Also Mary is extreme like there’s no in between so she probably flipped on Meredith in that very moment and add to that her budding friendship with Angie, Whitney and Bronwyn.
