Our enterprise leased 600+ Lenovo p50 laptops with a failure rate greater than 25% at 3+ years it went to >40% failure rate. I lobbied for HP/Dell with less than 5% failure rate but the director wanted to save $800+k on the contract.

This is only partly true. The main reason people use Microsoft (and SAP) products in enterprise is simply because checks all of the boxes. It doesn't have to do everything well, it doesn't even have to do anything well, so long as there's no buisness blocked due to missing feature

Thinking about doing the same. I first read it 15 years ago when I was 16yo. I feel a re-read now will bring new perspectives.

Can’t watch these without visceral disdain for walt and kara, just useless non-contributing zeros who were never right about anything, ever

Watching these I have the same feeling. Yet Steve appreciated them so much.

In 1997 my small school was going to buy a new computer and thought it'd be interesting to put a vote up for the students: Mac or PC? I strongly argued in favor of Mac, but the smartest girl in the class said PC because "Businesses use them more." I think about that all the time.

This language is one of the most difficult languages to speak. Enterprise Market and Consumer Market. Sounds simple. Nah!

* Because it is awesome and easy to use. * Because it has a ton of features. * Because your IT dept. can use its many many configuration options to royally screw it up by removing those features or making them nearly useless.
