'It feels like the Scottish Government is sitting back and watching pubs close' Gillian Kirkland runs The Piper Whisky Bar overlooking the scaffolding currently shrouding George Square. Amish mother arrested after she "gave her son to God". We are at Atwood Lake in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. On the evening of 29 May 2026, at around quarter past seven as the sun was setting, Michelle and Gideon Roos were relaxing on their stoep (veranda), braaiing (barbecuing), and speaking on the phone with Michelle's parents when their dog Charlie began barking. She handed over her handbag and wallet with what little cash she had. The man also grabbed Gideon's wallet. When Michelle tried to negotiate to keep their ID's and licenses, he shoved her onto the bed and agreed curtly. Gideon attempted to direct them to money in his cupboard but struggled to speak clearly. One attacker, armed with a long bent Y-dropper tool resembling a crowbar, stood threateningly behind Gideon, visibly irritated and ready to strike.
