When Lobbyists control the leadership with their money, the American people are the ones who suffer. The American people elect representatives based on what they say that they will do. Once the representative is elected, and serves on a committee... Lobbyists come in with blank checks offering to pay for their elections costs, and give them "perks," so that they can get reelected. All they have to do is vote for what the lobbyists want them to vote for, and grant them lucrative contracts. What do the American people get out of this deal? NOTHING, because we are the ones who FUND with taxes, whatever the lobbyists get! What about representing the American people? Oh, that's an after thought, which was written on a piece of paper... somewhere...
