You're right in saying that Britain has always been about different communities coming together. But those "communities" were in various local towns and villages just down the road and NOT from Pakistan, Syria or Ethiopia. This is a disgusting attempt to rewrite our history.

You and your ancestors were never here during the Celtic conquest, the Roman conquest, the Anglo-Saxons, the Normans, or the founding of England (which I doubt you even know when that was without google). Your ancestors weren't in the Hundred Years wars, they weren't roundheads or cavaliers, they didn't fight over Catholicism or protestantism, they never took part in the Battle of Bosworth field, they never joined the pesants revolt, they never bled, sweat and cried for generations into the land of Britain, they never attended innumrable baptisms, marriages and funerals in centuries old churches and abbeys, they never built the gothic cathedrals, they were not British.

What a load of old tosh. My Romanian wife has British citizenship, so she’s classed as British, but can never be ethnically English, as she’s ethnically Romanian, nothing will ever change that. It’s the same with every immigrant, they and their descendants can come here, gain citizenship, but they’ll always be a product of their own ethnicity. I was born in England 54 years ago, but I have Welsh heritage, so I’m not entirely English.
