Matthew Boyd on his start: "I wasn't as sharp with my changeup today. It could have been better. They definitely could have been better. A team like that, especially Machado and Tatis are gonna be aggressive. I just didn't throw it where I wanted to."

It could have been better? FFS at least come out and say man I sucked today. I let the team and the fans down.

Gee thanks Boyd, same fucking answers every interview. How about “I have struggled with location all year, and I continue to misplace my changeup. I find the hitters barrel and I shouldn’t have started game 1 of the biggest series of our season.”

This should not be a surprise at all. I’ve argued with people even after the first ten game win streak that this team was not built for the playoffs. There was no way to address what they needed via the trade deadline. They should have traded Happ and Suzuki for some good major league ready players. This offense is too streaky. The pitching was not top tier. We had NO ace ti turn to. Boyd is good. He’s NOT an ace. Our bullpen is horrible and we have no closer. We weren’t going to do crap in the playoffs. Counsel is not a multi million dollar manager. Jed is in over his head or has his hands tied by Ricketts.

"i just didn't throw it where I wanted to" - Cubs pitching since 2019

You don't say

Translation: Boyd sucked big time.

It happens @mattboyd48 our fellas weren’t hitting. Takes a TEAM. We’ll get em tomorrow. #cubs

Please let this season end. This has been my least favorite Cubs team in recent memory. Jed Hoyer is a good man, but we need a new approach to building a team. If Jed comes back after the lockout, it’ll be more of the same.

I am cutting Boyd a lot of slack. He wasn't signed to be a number one starter but has pitched good for the Cubs in 25-26. Horton and Steele were suppose to be the aces but injuries put a stop to that. Brown was looking ace like this year before his neck injury.

Hey Boyd, you are trash! I’ve said it all year

He is our ace?????????????? oh our pitching sucks? oh let’s blame injuries even though we spent $250M and 3 x the white sox on our old little white guys instead of big muscular Latinos team!

Bye

You sucked. Your #1 defense can’t do anyhthing if you don’t keep the damn ball in the yard!!!!!

The reality is that Matthew Boyd should be your #4 or 5 starter, but due to the failures of Jed Hoyer he’s been elevated much higher than that.

No shit really

"not as sharp....."?!?

Get this bum ass motherfucker off my timeline.

List time we ever have to watch this bud pitch again

Decline that mutual option for Boyd and Rea, Steele can take his spot next year on his final web year. Steele, brown, Cabrera will be the 3-5 in the rotation with Assad as the swing. That 20+ mil can go to a couple guys lefty power arms like jojo Romero and morejon in the pen.

This team is content with mediocrity. Ricketts and Jed sicken me.

Fuck you

What most cub fans look like

So since you use that pitch more than anything, you could have threw them some sliders dumb ass, wtf are you dumb anybody can see including yourself they where sitting changeup, and your dumb ass manager didn’t come out to make you change it up smh

Embarrassing

He’s been washed since the end of LAST season when he ran out of juice. I personally think Craig started him because this is probably his last outing as a Cub

No biggie just the biggest game of the season. Pathetic performance

Love this team but the holes exposed during the 10 game losing streak and September are just too much to overcome

Leave him alone he has been through enough

“I’ll be better the next time they call my name”. When? In 2028??!!! Man - Boyd totally shit the bed.

He owns it but still doesn’t make sense why he started in the first place when he traditionally struggles on short rest

To think we could have had Horton, Steele, and Brown…

U suck
