This pub isn't simply important as a pub. It's an insight into the many buildings that once made up the #CityofLondon before the 'Great fire' of 1666. Chelsea Dan and myself (Vinnie Sullivan) were joined by the wonderful The Wondering Englishman. Together, we looked at the building not only for its registered history but for the many unknown moments it must have seen. I read a quote about friendship that said friends "are kind to each other's hopes and cherish each other's dreams." That perfectly sums up my nearly 20-year bond with Paula Pendley, this week's very special guest. Back in June 2021, I attended my first Bitcoin Conference in hopes of learning more, spending time with like-minded people, meeting some of my teachers, and to release the first episodes of Coin Stories. I was a bit nervous to go alone, so I asked my best friend Paula to join me. Paula didn't just tag along-- she was the ultimate hype girl and support system. She handed out cards with a QR code to my new show to anyone who crossed her path (including a large captive audience in line for the men's restrooms). We got turned away from almost every party and event (we forgive you Parker Lewis). She cheered me on as I mustered up the courage to request interviews with icons like Michael Saylor. We had the absolute best time with zero expectations in our wildest dreams that my little hobby show would become my full-time career. Fast forward to today: Paula is not just completely orange-pilled, but she is also lending her legal expertise to Bitcoin companies and has become very active in the community. She is kind, selfless, brilliant and the best friend anyone could ask for (right Susie₿dds James Lavish Preston Pysh Jeff Booth ⚡️?!). She is the kind of person you could call at any hour, no matter how busy she is, and she will drop everything to be there for you. She is truly the sister I never had. This interview is a chance to get to know a rising legal star in the Bitcoin space. I love you so much, P, and I'm so proud of you. P.S. The final scene in The Godfather Part II, with the family gathered around the dinner table, was originally going to include Marlon Brando, but he pulled out at the very last minute. Coppola had to rewrite a whole new ending the night before the shoot. He explains: “It’s a very interesting story, because I had written this scene that we go back to, around the period just before the first Godfather, when they were all young… My idea was that they would come together, finally, at the end, as a family. And the end of the movie would be a big, beautiful scene with Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, sort of summing up the whole saga that had gone down. And I was negotiating with Marlon Brando right up to the last minute saying, “Marlon, please, just one day. We’ll give you this money.” But Marlon was so mad at Paramount - for ultimately not paying him any money on the first picture, or whatever he was mad about - And although I didn’t know it until the last day, ultimately, it wasn’t going to be possible to have him in the picture. So I went to bed that night really worried. I had lost the end of my movie. I had to shoot it the next day. I had no idea what to do. I was sleeping in the Chateau Marmont Hotel. I had this scene. I had paid all this money to get Jimmy Caan to come back and some of the other actors to be in the last scene. And in the middle of the night, I just had this idea. And I wrote it - which is that they were all gathered for a surprise birthday party for the Don. And so after this scene plays out, in which Michael’s decision to join the Marines is kind of examined relative to really what all we know is going to happen, and what this young, beautiful, collegiate man who’s a war hero, who goes straight, is going to end up to be: this man without a heart, who’s killed his own brother and alienated his wife… And I thought there could be one beautiful scene with him and Don Corleone as we remember him from the first movie. Since Marlon didn’t come, I made it the surprise party, and I built it up to the point where they all said, “Oh, he’s here. He’s here.” And they all run out of the room. And as you’re waiting for Marlon to come into the room, you just stay on Al… And I came up with the solution at, like - three in the morning. And the next day they said, “Well, Marlon’s not coming.” And I said, “That’s all right. I’ve got a scene we can do without him.” And it was this one. Also, I like that staging kind of, especially about families who ultimately dissolve in front of your eyes, the idea that you have a table full of people. And one by one, someone argues or someone goes off, and then you’re just left with one … And everything else now is just sound. I just got the sad news that my Grandma Roz passed away at the age of 94. A Brownsville native, my grandmother was one of the first women to graduate from Brooklyn College with a degree in Chemistry. She was born to two very sick parents who both died while she was very young. My grandmother was a picky eater growing up and she never let me forget it. She introduced new food to me and when I fussed, she said “don’t say you don’t like something until you try it.” In fact, my first memory was her feeding me slices of cheese. I’m sure she just wanted me to be healthy, but it taught me a deeper lesson. That small value, helped me develop an open mind, not just for food, but everything in life. She taught me how to cross the streets in New York. One time, I got so frustrated that my grandma made me hold her hand, I ran off into the middle of the street with cars passing. When she rescued me 😂 she yelled at me and my credit score was dead on arrival ever since. My grandma spoke as a matter of fact. Confidently. She challenged me every step of my maturity. That helped me not only believe in myself but understand that along the way, I would have to put up as well. Even when you achieve something? It’s not enough. There’s still work to put in and a level to reach. With all her grandchildren, Grandma Roz would mark their height. Every visit, I’d see my growth. Through my younger cousins, I saw the evolution of her commitment to raising our family. I always respected that. My grandma once went to the Queens public library at flushing and picked me up a VHS of He Got Game. She tossed the case on the tv stand in my room and said “watch it, there’s nudity in it” 😂 When I was a teen, She would often have a secret non alcoholic beer with me… it was her way of being dangerous and I always got a kick out of it. As I got older, my car rides to NY always stopped at my grandma’s house in flushing. She would treat me the same way from when I was a kid. Treating an hour ride from Jersey as a “long ride you must be starving” taking out a piece of toast and offering a “little margarine” in her Brooklyn accent. At night, coming to my room with extra pillows, which she never called pillows, but “cushions” As a kid, my grandma would wake me up every morning singing Irving Berlin’s “Oh, How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning” I learned to enjoy the song because splashing water would come after. Something about that song. It’s so perfect. It’s so spiritual. I always imagined myself signing it at her funeral. I don’t know if I will, but now she won’t have to wake up every morning. She will get to sleep. With the eternal. Im forever grateful for such an amazing matriarch that I would have NOTHING without. I’m sad, broken, but she lived a long life and I know how blessed she was to make it a full century’s worth on this earth. My last experience with her was last week, she wouldn’t take her medicine. I just came up to her, put the pills in my hand and gave it to her. She took it. She grabbed my hand and kissed it. I’m so thankful to my mom, the healthcare workers, for allowing me to have a moment like that. Rest in Peace, Roslind Dorwitt aka Grandma Roz, or as our family called her… The Wizard of ROZ. ❤️

Both animal and human blood were believed to be needed to resurrect Bel on Samhain. Human blood was believed to open the gates of Anwynn and released the spirits for a night. Thus, October 31 came to be associated with ghosts. This is not just history. Samhain is still celebrated by Pagans and is the most solemn ceremony on their “religious calendar”." - Bill Schnoebelen What is Samhain? It began over 2000 years ago with people known as the Celtics who were ruled and lead by their priestly class called the Druids. They lived in the part of the world known today as: England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. For the Celts this particular date marked the beginning of a new year. This was a time when the Celts would give thanks to the sun god for the harvest. This ancient festival was called Samhain (pronounced savan, sawan or sow-in). The Celts believed that on the night before the new year, October 31st, the boundary or veil between known reality in which we exist and the secret or occult world of the spirit, the place of the dead, became its thinnest and most penetrable. On this night, they believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth causing trouble, damaging crops and haunting familiar places. They also believed the phenomenon made this the perfect time for channeling spirits. Channeling spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions of future events. (Now, as bible believers we know there are no such things as ghosts or wandering disembodied spirits of the dead. The Word of God tells us that when you die your soul and spirit go to one of two places, Heaven or Hell, depending on your relationship with Jesus Christ. These ancient people were actually communing with demon spirits.) At Samhain, “the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock (actually, whatever was being sacrificed, including humans) were thrown. (This is where the name originated, called bone-fires, the name evolved into the current day: bonfire) Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them. Source Samhain is also the name of the one honored at this festival, the one called “lord of death”. There was a prevailing belief, among all nations of that day, that at death the souls of the good men were taken possession of by good spirits and carried to paradise; but the souls of the wicked men were left to wonder in the space between the earth and the moon, or consigned to the unseen world. These wandering spirits were in the habit of haunting the living…But there were means by which ghosts might be exorcised. To exorcise these ghosts, that is to free yourself from their evil sway, you would have to set out food and provide shelter for them during the night. If they were satisfied with your offerings, they would leave you in peace. If not, they were believed to cast an evil spell on you and cause havoc for your failure to fulfill their requests. 2nd Kings 21:6 “And he (Manasseh) made his son pass through the fire, (child sacrifice) and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: (all witchcraft) he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him (God) to anger.” “One of the oldest Irish sagas states that the barrows where the fairies dwelt were open about Samhain, and in Scotland a demon who stole babies at this time was called a Samhanach. Another old saga relates that for three days before and three days after November 1 the warriors of Ulster assembled for eating, drinking and boasting of the men they had killed, producing their tongues as evidence. They also believed the phenomenon made this the perfect time for channeling spirits. Channeling spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions of future events. (Now, as bible believers we know there are no such things as ghosts or wandering disembodied spirits of the dead. The Word of God tells us that when you die your soul and spirit go to one of two places, Heaven or Hell, depending on your relationship with Jesus Christ. These ancient people were actually communing with demon spirits.) At Samhain, “the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock (actually, whatever was being sacrificed, including humans) were thrown. (This is where the name originated, called bone-fires, the name evolved into the current day: bonfire) Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them. If they were satisfied with your offerings, they would leave you in peace. Another old saga relates that for three days before and three days after November 1 the warriors of Ulster assembled for eating, drinking and boasting of the men they had killed, producing their tongues as evidence. Cromm Cruac was held in HORROR for his terrible exactions; it was DANGEROUS TO EVEN WORSHIP HIM, for the worshipers themselves often perished in the act of worship.” This is one of the pagan gods the observance of Halloween honors! As a part of the Druid festival, men and women had to fear not only the departed spirits, who were to return during the evening hours, they must also fear the Druid priests themselves. It was a time of mass human sacrifice. “Men and women, young and old, criminals and innocents, were forced into huge wooden and thatch cages. Often these cages were fashioned in the” shape of giants, wicker men, perhaps representations of Samhain himself.
