I will never understand how he went from tearing up during the first meeting of Cloud and Aerith when he heard her music score to calling her a whore a few years later. Like what happened man?

Surely there's an explanation, probably was being sarcastic because I heard being called a flower-seller could be a code for prostitute. He did at least acknowledge Aerith romance is the canon route in rebirth.
