Leave it to good old Gawny to bring some sense back to the conversation. I was surprised to see that Rowell leads the league in average pressure acts & is 2nd in defensive half PA. He's an accountable footballer. By comparison, he averages nearly double on both than Daicos.

Max Gawn has one of the biggest ‘auras’ the game has seen. I’m a Sainter but I love him.

It’s good that it is the umpires ‘feel of the game’ rather than stats analysis. Also, many intangibles such leadership and reading the game, and treating others with respect. We often simplify the ‘Fairest’ part of the award to just suspensions.

Leave it in the hands of the "white" maggots I reckon @BrucyRadio. Gawn makes a succinct point, and don't forget the "fairest" element which is an intangible not captured by stats.

Leave the Brownlow with the umpires - I love it & yes they make mistakes - inevitable no matter who or what.

I like Gawn. But NAS kicking 2 goals in 8 seconds to draw and 1 after the siren. That is very obvious. NAS COULD HAVE STARTED SUB AND THAT 8 SECONDS WAS BEST ON GROUND. The umpires MISSED an absolute howler. Sticking up for them with this decision is a pathetic argument, really.

By 29th September the Brownlow will no longer be discussed, and award for being 2nd will not be discussed.
