While many Demcorats have already blamed Trump’s victory on the American public, this is nothing more than an excuse for the liberal elite to obfuscate self-reflection and deny their culpability in creating a cult-like figure such as Trump. It is their own capture by corporate power and their subsequent destruction of welfare, labor and civil liberties that have pushed desperate Americans into the arms of a coercive conservative movement. If a Democratic candidate like Bernie Sanders came out and offered New Deal reforms, they would have beaten Trump in a landslide—but, of course, their corporate benefactors would never allow this.
