i mean, they already got a huge donation from Twitch before and look who owns that. if its not transactional then fuck it, squeeze as much money as you can out of them.
The fact that Maya is thinking beyond just the stream and considering the bigger impact of every decision shows how much responsibility comes with having that platform
Money is money, what's the point of denying donations just because you don't like a guy? Just pure stupidity
I think she's afraid of the backlash that would happen if the sanctuary took money from someone or a group that seemed nefarious. If Alveus loses the trust of the community, it's going to be hard to get that back. Even if it's for a good cause. It's the ultimate catch-22.
I feel she and his org should be more transparent about the money people are donating to them. We don't know what they do with the money and everytime she streams or does a collab she makes like 10k or more from donations. Then you see her on a trip to japan or some shi like that
@mayahiga if someone you feel has a bad reputation or is considered a bad person, but they’re offering donations, tell they have to donate anonymously. they can’t get credit and you don’t get flak for it.. seems like an easy solution.
If the money is going to a good cause does it really matter?

Given the plans she has announced on making her company bigger, their survival is based solely on donations is a bit of a risk. They need a backup plan of revenue in the event if twitch goes away.

My cousins best friend and his family own a local zoo. Ive seen the bills. I'm suprised shes been able to go on for so long solely off donations with how expensive taking care of wild animals can be.
It's true that all the billionaires and the overwhelming majority of multi-millionaires are not good people. It's incredibly hard to get insanely rich unless you give 0 fucks about other people.

Take their money, put it into doing good. Any bad you can convert to doing good instead of leaving it in the hands of said people is ultimately a good thing. As long as taking it doesn't mean causing/encouraging harm elsewhere.
Hard for people to donate more when nobody is really sure where all the money is going.
Notice how she covered for a dog abuser and he hasn't provided nearly as much money as the average Steve Irwin donater
