Maybe this is a stupid question but why don't dinner parties put everyone's chair on a conveyor belt so they can talk to different people throughout the evening?

You're always next to the same people, but now they have motion sickness?

It won’t go fast enough to give anyone motion sickness. It only needs to rotate you halfway around the table over 2 hours or so

Inner ring facing out, outer ring facing in, sushi train in between, with chef station.

"That's an interesting point Mark, I think we - oh shit, uh, I'll get back to you on the next lap"

Food motherfucker - do you eat it?

Put the food on a parallel conveyor belt

like a human sushi train

well they never said mts stood for members of technical staff

What are the technical issues here exactly? I'm aware that you won't get to talk to the few people like 2-3 seats away from you, but you won't get to do that anyway with static seating

the motion sickness cost is not worth the miniscule improvement. in a circular table there is no improvement, in a straight line table (optimal) you can talk to half the table, but realistically you could have talked to most of those in a static situation anyway

It's not going to be literally that fast, and you can't really talk to people on far ends of the table if there are like 8 on each side of you And if you're closer to the end of the table there will be people like 15 seats away. Utterly cooked

my engineering solution is cocktail hour

with light hors d'oeuvres

Because now you’re just rotating next to the same people

@rSanti97

But they’re still sitting next to the same people

That is a fast rotation. Thay would get me motion sickness

It's illustrative. It won't literally be that fast

Well the worst part of dinner etiquette decline is the loss of the “turning of the table”. Signaled by host’s turn guests are supposed to switch to the opposite neighbor so no one is boxed out. Instead it’s a free for all and someone ends up losing.

You need mobile chair scooters and tables with AI listening in to conversations and rearranging people for optimal engagement.

My first though is how the singularity brings us back to the 8086.

@rSanti97 simpler solution: every 15 mins, ring a bell and everyone plays musical chairs

mts theme dinner

This is the obvious solution, but the cowards in the government would never do it.

Good vibe robotics project, at this rate in a year before it’s mostly automatable

It should just be one big Discord call

That's what the after party is for

"talk to different people throughout the evening" They are moving all together. What a stupid take.

But what if they were eating conveyor-belt sushi? Then they’d be stuck eating the same sushi all night.

At social events I like sometimes people will just randomly get up and float around to other parts of the table and that’s accepted social protocol

ya but will the table have a river that floats sushi boats in the opposite direction

bc you usually dont talk across table, you talk to your seat mate.

Quite literally nightmare blunt rotation

revolving sushi bar but for humans

speed dating dinner party, yeah

I see a big opportunity for luggage conveyor manufacturers.

Visionary

Just their chair? So they have to eat off of different plates throughout the night?

But with this, you cant have any conversation for more than a min or two with anyone across the table, which defeats its purpose, no?

A conveyer belt, in this economy?

I cannot wait for robots to take over so people like you lose the privilege of having a phone. you'd be better off to offload your brain to subsidise executions of a datacenter for a Grok Build 0.1 a take so unintelligible that would even disqualify you from universal income

I have an even better idea! Are you ready for this one? I hope you're listening, how about, ok check this out, how about we do the exact same thing as they're doing right now.

funniest thing i've seen on Twitter all month.. absolutely nailed it 😂👌
