![Blue city officers flocking to cop-friendly red states, police leader says: ‘Why would anyone stay?’ | Peter D'Abrosca, Fox News FOP vice president reveals why law enforcement is abandoning Democrat-run areas for greener pastures Law enforcement officers in areas primarily run by Democrats continue to flock to red states for job security, better pay and bosses who will back them up, according to one police leader. Joe Gamaldi is the national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). He is an active lieutenant with the Houston Police Department, and he said police in blue cities are tired of facing hostility from local leaders. "What we've seen is really a mass exodus of police officers leaving far-left cities for basically greener pastures," he told Fox News Digital. "Because, ultimately, people want to feel appreciated for what they do, and when you have a boss — in this case, mayors or city councils, who regularly call you a piece of crap to the public — why would anyone stay?" Florida is one example of a Republican-led state that has benefited from the mass departures. According to a 2024 statement from former Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, the state welcomed 5,000 law enforcement recruits between 2022 and last year, and 1,200 of them came from out of state. "Florida is the most pro-law enforcement state in the nation because we back our blue," Moody said at the time. "We’ve been spreading the word about all the great incentives to join our ranks, and individuals like the new Sarasota recruits have answered the call, leaving behind places where their service was not as appreciated as it is here." She said she was "as inspired as ever to continue doing all we can to show our support to those who bravely protect and serve" after seeing the influx of police officers into the state. Gamaldi said officers are also moving to cities that may lean blue but are in red states and still have the support of elected leadership and the community, adding officers are "voting with their feet." "We're also seeing it [in] Texas in Houston, which is a city that leans a little blue, but they have been supportive of police officers," he said. "The mayor there has given a massive raise to police officers. You're seeing officers go there. You're seeing officers go to Dallas. So, you're seeing all these communities, and there's one common thread. It's ‘We support police officers.'" Gamaldi emphasized that the trend began after the 2020 defund the police movement and said, in many cities, law enforcement officers are afraid to do their jobs in "critical incident" situations, even when they do them by the book. "I think you can look no further than Seattle, Portland, Chicago [and] New York," he said. "All of these cities have basically told their police officers, 'We don't support you. We're not gonna be there for you when you need us. We're gonna try to defund you when given the opportunity.' "I mean, my goodness, right now, one of the mayoral candidates for New York has actively said he wants to defund and dismantle the police department," Gamaldi said, referring to socialist Zohran Mamdani, who has been open with his anti-police rhetoric. Blue cities, Gamaldi said, are worse off for driving out their police forces. "Look at the mass exodus of experience in solving cases and experience of just mentoring the next generation of police officers," he said. "I mean, the damage that was done in 2020 with the defund the police movement, rhat's going to reverberate for decades. You don't just recover from something like that when you have all of that experience walking out the door." He also pointed to better pay and other financial perks, like cities covering moving expenses, as reasons law enforcement officers are moving away from far-left areas. ... Chicago Teachers Union Put on Notice After Failing to Complete Financial Audits for Half a Decade | Margaret Flavin, The Gateway Pundit The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has been put on notice after failing to complete financial audits to show how union members’ money has been spent over the past five years. The House Education and Workforce Committee sent a letter to CTU President Stacy Davis Gates, noting the union has failed to provide members with complete financial audits since 2020, in violation of their own policy. The letter shares, “The Committee is concerned that CTU has undertaken a half-decade long, concerted effort to deny its members the complete audit information to which they are entitled under the union’s by-laws…” “By withholding complete financial audits from its members, CTU has failed to uphold the spirit of union transparency or comply with its own by-laws.” “As such, the Committee is investigating this matter to better determine whether the [Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959] should be amended to strengthen its requirements so that union members have access to more robust and timely financial information.” “Every dollar paid by workers should serve their interests, not those of a select few operating in the shadows.” Under the leadership of President Stacy Davis Gates and Vice President Jackson Potter, the CTU has become the largest political spender in Chicago. “A full annual audit requires the financial secretary to furnish an audited report published in the union’s newsletter and the Board of Trustees to obtain an annual audit and make it available for members for inspection,” according to Fox News. The union has until December 8 to disclose the audit. Fox News reports: Furthermore, the committee suggested that CTU’s conduct may justify strengthening federal reporting requirements, so members gain access to more timely, detailed financial information. The letter further stated that, in light of CTU’s “failures” to provide full financial audits since 2019, the committee is examining whether reforms to the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) are needed to “protect union members’ rights.” You can read the full letter here. Illinois Policy Institute noted that teachers are not the main priority of the Chicago Teachers Union and its own spending practices prove it. Just 17.7% of its spending in fiscal year 2025 was on “representational activities,” according to a report it filed in September with the U.S. Department of Labor. Matt Paprocki, President & CEO of Illinois Policy Institute, notes, “This is a game-changer for a union that has acted with impunity and in violation of its own rules. The call for accountability that began with us has now gained real teeth.” “Not only is the federal government demanding copies of the missing audits, they’re also citing CTU’s consistent misbehavior as a justification for broader reforms that will bring more transparency to union spending across the country.” ... ![I’m seeing a lot of questions on the launch of China’s Chang’e 6 mission yesterday to get samples - for the first time - from the far side of the moon. We don’t know (afaik) why specifically they’re doing that, but we have a pretty good idea what grand vision China is working towards with their space program. How? From this 2022 video by Chas Freeman (former Assistant Secretary of Defense and Nixon's interpreter during his era-defining 1972 China visit), who imho is undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable former US officials on China. He says that according to his own discussions with people running China’s space program, they’re following the vision described in the book "The high frontier" by Gerard K. O'Neill, which Freeman says has "become the bible of the Chinese space program". I read the book. So what vision does it describe? The book was written in 1976 by O'Neill who was a professor of physics at Princeton University. He also founded the Space Studies Institute, an organization devoted to funding research into space manufacturing and colonization. In other words, he knew his stuff. The book makes the very fair point that we have massive resource constraints on earth, especially given the growing population. He estimated in 1976 that we should be "about six and a half billion people in the year 2000", and we were 6.114 billion back then so he was pretty prescient. He estimates that these constraints will progressively give rise to more and more social tensions as the growing earth population competes for our limited resources as well as faces global problems like climate change. In his view, dealing with this will either require "an authoritarian regime capable of mounting the immense task of social reorganization needed to escape catastrophe" or, alternatively, “mankind would [need to adopt] a static society [that would be] forced in self-defense to suppress new ideas". The 3rd alternative is of course the colonization of space. The most interesting aspect of the book is that he claims everything he writes is feasible with knowledge and technology that already existed in the late 70s. In short he calls for the establishment of large human habitats in the Earth-Moon system, located at stable Lagrange points ("parking spots" in space where gravity from different spatial bodies cancel each other out). In particular he developed the concept of what's known today as the "O'Neill cylinder" which he says "could support quite easily a population of ten million people, growing its food in agricultural cylinders near but outside the main habitat". Energy-wise, it'd simply make use of solar energy via a system of mirrors. As he describes it: "the concentration of the unvarying, intense sunlight of space by very lightweight, inexpensive mirrors can provide all the energy that industry will ever need [...] at a fraction of a cent per kilowatt-hour". He envisages building these habitats with material from the moon, shot into space via "mass drivers", a form of electromagnetic catapult. Also "the habitats would have artificial gravity similar as that of earth by rotating about twenty-eight times an hour”, but he also envisages low-gravity areas, especially for recreational activities such as swimming pools or dancing representations. To trade with earth, he develops the idea of beaming solar power back to earth via "microwave from solar power stations in orbit". As he describes it "the microwave beam would arrive at Earth with a beam width of about seven kilometers. Its intensity would be modest, less than half that of sunlight. In contrast to sunlight, though, it would be there all the time, even at night or in clouds or rain, and it would be in a form ready for conversion to DC current with a loss of only 10 percent. The areas receiving these beams’ output on Earth would be fenced, and outside the fence the intensity of microwave radiation would be no higher than outside a microwave oven with the door closed. He estimates that if "Satellite Solar Power Stations (SSPS) were to become the sole source of electric energy in the United States in the year 2000, the land area necessary for the SSPS antennas would still be only 0.2 percent of that of the continental United States". In short, the establishment of space colonies could lead to the fulfillment of a good share of Earth's energy needs. Last but not least he describes life in space habitats as better than that of earth, largely thanks to the level of control we'd have over the environment (total climate control which would enable an abundance of food and no natural disaster) as well as unlimited cheap energy. To conclude, Chas Freeman typically really knows his stuff when it comes to China and he’s very intellectually honest (a rare trait among US officials) so I have no doubt he tells the truth when he says the Chinese told him that was the vision. And China famously thinks very big and very long term so it would be quite like them to go for something like this. There are also quite a few tangible signs that China is working towards that vision. See for instance this November 2022 news where “China’s space station will join a project to collect solar power from space and send it to Earth in a high-energy microwave beam”: That’s exactly O’Neill’s vision! Or check this October 2022 news that says China is developing new "electromagnetic sledges" that can propel a carriage weighing a few tonnes to a record speed, with a key application for this being “aerospace”: Remember: O’Neill’s vision is to build his habitats with material from the moon, shot into space via "mass drivers", a form of electromagnetic catapult. So there you go… Or also the fact that the Chinese will build, together with the Russians, a moon base - planned for 2028 - powered by a “space nuclear reactor” that’s already been developed (on Earth) and has passed review by China’s Ministry of Science: The space nuclear reactor can generate 1MW of electricity, enough to power 10 International Space Stations. Enough power, maybe, to undertake mining activity and power an electromagnetic catapult… After visions change, the world changes, so it’s also possible that China’s view on what they want to do has evolved. In any case, Chas Freeman is right that China’s motivation for all its initiatives in space can’t just be to “boldly explore where no-one has been before”, they have to be working towards something. And Freeman is also absolutely right to lament that the U.S. decided to ban any cooperation in space with the Chinese. And what he was talking about in his papers was called Search for Extraterrestrial Artifacts, like archeological technology, artifacts like ancient-Egyptian equipment and things like that, artwork and whatnot. ![An imam in Sweden has caused controversy after he appeared on video calling for faithful Muslim men to beat their wives if they misbehave or disobey their husbands. Those who are familiar with the tenets of Islamic law know that the imam’s advice is drawn directly from the Koran (4:34): “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.” The referenced video featuring the wife-beating imam is here. He’s speaking in Arabic, but the video has both English and Swedish subtitles. Jimmie Åkesson and the Sweden Democrats insist that imam, and others who express similar sentiments, must have their Swedish citizenship revoked. Åkesson: Close mosque and strip imam’s citizenship September 30, 2025 The Sweden Democrats’ (SD) Jimmie Åkesson believes that the imam in Kristianstad who preached about beating women should have his citizenship taken away. He also wants to close the mosque itself. The SD is reportedly now pressing the government to tighten legislation in order to make it easier to revoke citizenship. “Those types of mosques should be closed, and we should also tear them down or use them for something else, Jimmie Åkesson tells Riks. The SD leader comments on the case of Imam Saleh Abouelenen, who has been forced to leave his position in the Al Rahma Mosque in Kristianstad after a well-known sermon about when men are allowed to beat their wives. Such imams should be deported, according to Åkesson. “It is absolutely horrible that people with the status of an imam in the Muslim civil society can express themselves like that and still be in the country, which they naturally should not be. And that the mosque also has the potential to continue carrying out its activity. That cannot be allowed.” Saleh Abouelenen has been given Swedish nationality. But the SD wants to push through a change in the constitution that makes it possible to deport, for example, terrorists or persons who have a connection to terror or extremism. “Today, it is not possible, but we think it should be possible,” says Jimmie Åkesson. According to Expressen, after the incident in Kristianstad, the SD is pressing the government to go beyond the announced legislation and enable the revocation of Swedish citizenship for Islamists, also on grounds of immorality. The government is preparing a model to be able to revoke citizenship for serious criminality or if citizenship was obtained based on false information. But the SD wants to include more grounds. “If you say, as the government ministers do, that this is terrible, then you must also do something,” says SD leader [Ludvig] Aspling to Expressen. He continues: “But what we should do now is discuss what we will do in the next term. The Sweden Democrats will make a statement of their wish that more people will be caught up when it comes to the stripping of citizenship.” This IS Islam.
