I suppose that if it is modeled with an initial fluid in the maze which can only exit through the exit, the โ€žsolutionโ€œ would be attained much faster (as wrong exits would be blocked and have higher resistance depending on viscosity / desnsity difference).

So nearly the entire maze must be "filled" before the solution is found? That seems...... Incredibly inefficient

This could be more complicated if there is air in the maze and some sort of air bubbles would stay in the system.
