Typically I have the audio muted because I'm talking to people in discord about the game. I turn it on for 30 seconds and I hear "Do you run the tush push here" Went right back to discord to talk to people. Cleff Skimbo You Should rotate being in the booth. Should be praising these players about how great they are and the strategy behind it and at this point in time we've lost that.

I had a hard time watching last night. Intensity wasn’t there…. Games felt friendly/low stakes (some of them) On top of the fact that the entire broadcast is centered around getting drops/cards Just feel like the MCS live event feel has dropped so much over the years man. Not being able to watch every play of these games is hilarious but that’s just beating a dead horse

You nailed it. Production is awful. Fuck, make it a 2 day live event so we can watch all the game. Having a “B” stream on YouTube is so bad. Mfers mentioned do we rush push here, have people saying Joey Bosa with “dono”. Gotta hear these motherfucker talk about how shitty the Browns and panthers are for 4 hours lmao.

If they want to inflate viewership just have the broadcast be put on the front page of twitch. Let the people who want to watch, watch. The chat is insufferable with the begging for free cards. Also, dead on concerning production. The mics sounded awful and the commentators didn’t seem invested whatsoever. They need new people there imo.

Well said. I think the biggest setback to the quality of the broadcast is the integration of Full Sail students. At times, it feels as though production decisions are being made primarily to incorporate them into the process. Nick is an amazing caster, and I am sure his job of making everything work cannot be easy under these circumstances. I agree that the production was not up to the standard we have come to expect and enjoy in the past. My assumption is that the current MCS budget requires cost-cutting decisions, such as holding events at Full Sail and fulfilling whatever agreements—possibly including the use of their students—come with that arrangement. I personally think EA did a lot in the past in an attempt to grow the MCS, but it never materialized into what we had all hoped it would become. Now, it is apparent that, at least for this year, there has been a reduction in the resources being poured into something that is not growing. The hard truth that competitors do not want to face is that the majority of Madden players do not view MCS competitors as anything more than glitchy or cheesy players who run the same things repeatedly, based on the best ways to exploit the game’s inadequacies. They see MCS players as the enemy who have ruined the experience because everyone they face tries to copy that play style. I obviously do not share these views. I understand that the majority of people who play or watch Madden have no idea how much they do not know about the game. They miss the chess match and the complexities unfolding on the live stage and see only what they expect to see. Regardless, watching MCS tournaments does not change their perspective. Instead, it reinforces their belief that everyone runs the same schemes, uses the same players, and repeats the same formula every year. Competitive Madden, in its current state and with its current formula, is not gaining enough new supporters. For the MCS to grow, people need to feel as though there is someone they genuinely want to support. Every singing or dancing competition show is built around viewers taking a liking to certain contestants and rooting for them to survive each week. I do not think this year’s format is ideal for competitors, but it has a better chance of creating storylines and familiarity from one broadcast to the next. That can give people a reason to tune in and root for someone they have come to like. With that being said, if creating those storylines is the intention, then part of the equation must be featuring the competitors at every possible opportunity within the parameters the production team is working with. The competitors also need to show emotion and help create memorable moments that people will still be talking about the next day. One of the best things for MCS viewership would be to have the streamers who have spent years building loyal communities competing on the biggest stage—players such as Dubby, Skimbo, Kmac, Problem, Dottimus, GoatGeezy, Vohes, and others. At this point, I believe that if we ever want to see the MCS start trending in the right direction, we have to stop waiting for EA to do it for us. Every competitor who wants the MCS to survive for their own benefit should ask themselves, “What can I do to help create a product that people want to watch and support?” I do not believe that process begins on the live stage. That is one of the reasons I was so critical of players who were not streaming their ladder games. I feel that it was a missed opportunity to get people invested in a player’s journey and the adversity they had to overcome to reach the live stage. I understand that streaming can create a competitive disadvantage, and this year’s format made it logical for players to do everything necessary to reach the Pro League. However, if competitors want the MCS to remain viable, there comes a point when they need to ask themselves what is best for the overall health of the esport. If they do not start asking that question now, they may eventually find themselves asking the dreaded “What if?” later in life while looking back on the good times we had when the MCS was still around.

@Dcroft Nailed it Dub. @NickMizesko and @OneGreatUser are terrific, but we really miss TDavis, Cleff, Henry, etc. jumping on and offering some more insight from a pros POV. And I know it’s no one’s fault, but it’s ridiculous that we’re ever missing a fourth quarter.

Casual Hot Take if not rooting for a Person its really hard to get into the game with everyone using the same players. If people are not there to watch Henry Wes Jon or Drini history it kinda hard to pick someone to root for with everyone having MIlton/RG3 throw to Pickens

Agree and if they wanted to "giveaway" a card, create a mcs program where u gotta play like 4 solos on all madden comp full games to earn it, going up against the teams the top players use. So they still can promote the MCS and comp players to all the people on the game.

They should’ve took their top MCS stars over the past 2-3 years like Cleff , Dez, Fancy etc and included them in this too. It should’ve been a 8-12 man league with ALL stars. With 2 bowl spots guaranteed since everyone in the pro league is still eligible to play in other tournaments.

just all autobids? would have worked but the first tourney was awesome

DatBoi's profile picture
DatBoi19 days ago

Imo the first tourney would’ve been just as good if the pro league already had 10 participants and there was 2 spots remaining. Just feels like the direction is going the WWE route which is fine but how are you missing clear fan favorites like a Cleff and then someone who had one of the most dominate seasons in madden history like Fancy. Dez who for 2 years was essentially Henry’s rival. Just seems like they dropped the ball trying to middle between competitive integrity and marketing. Once unknown autobids from the previous year were announced all competitive integrity for this madden season was lost.

90% of the time it’s cracking jokes n shit , Cole and rg would actually talk about the game and the players. Nick has to go he barely even talks about the game. Skim and cleff the only ones who actually talk about the gm, and they get interrupted by the same corny jokes from Nick

Dumbass take. If they remove tokens/dump trucks/players for watching then the viewership will drop 80-90% you think ppl actually give a shit about these streams? Y’all were already crying about the prize pool decrease. Imagine how much worse after viewership for this drops more.

The dump truck shit blows. I’m literally banned in chat bc I said it was corny and annoying. Imagine how that looks to someone who had never watched before. They tune and the whole chat is spamming dump truck, as long as they keep going with that MCS will never be viewed serious

Agreed 100%. What I’ve done in last MCS and including this Pro league, is when they start joking around , not talking about the game being played or Madden, I mute the sound and only watch the game. Way too much joking and non Madden football talk

Agree with a lot but the drops is what every game does. Literally call of duty 2k and a lot more. But that's just on EA not having thete system together like other company's. But production is terrible and the new format is pretty nice.

It’s not professional at all and it needs to be if you want this to be taken seriously and grow. I watched the beginning where it was just jokes form guys dressed sloppily as hosts and it instantly lowers credibility in my eyes, but maybe that’s just me being in corporate 😂

Evos should be fully allowed AND encouraged. It is absurd to me that EA, in an effort to make everything the same, has abandoned the thing people were having the most fun with at the start. EA is a turd company is just letting the product die.

I agree except for the MCS card part. Dump trucks can go for sure but getting a usable free card is huge in such an expensive game.

Same reason the 2k league fell off the commentary team would talk about how they walked there dog and ate pizza instead of ball, extremely agree on that point and the staggering of games! Take advantage while you can.
