Me in 2001: “How do the Graphics get more Real than this?!” 😳

The world used to look this way in 2001. People just forget.

game play still stands up, you can drop back to pass, the blocking looks solid, the routes look ok and one of the receivers even makes a toe tap catch on the sidelines….in 2001 graphics and don’t forget 3 years later Madden 2004 is still one of the greatest games of all time

Even in 2026 that RB still gets stuck on the Oline lol

Sadly the game play never got better.

Madden on PS2 in 2001 had better graphics.

Assuming this was 1999 or 2000 since Troy Aikman was not on Dallas in 2001

Cap

My first madden was Madden 99 on the Nintendo 64! 😃

I played the shit out of NFL fever in 01/02 and the graphics were a lot better than this

Look Ike they playing in the Tokyo dome 😂😂

2K1 blew this out the water

You can complain about the graphics, but the gameplay was smoother than some games made today. Developing has always been a high skill issue.

All the graphics got better but the gameplay has gotten worse

Better commentary

I believe Madden 2001 of the PSX was the first Madden to let you select uniforms. I know on Madden 99 and 2000 they would force the cowboys to wear their dark unis on the road. I just remembered as the Niners games at candlestick would force me to wear white home vs them😂

NFL2K on dream cast looked better than that.

For me, I never had to have realistic 4k graphics. Just a fun playable game with halfway decent graphics.

😂🎯

Lmao

And yet the gameplay was way better than it is now.

🥶🥶

This was only temporary until the PS2 came out, and Madden was fire

I miss this; it's before all the glitches and cheating took over. I retired Madden several years ago cause people glitch and cheat too much, it isn't fun.

Graphics better today but that game was legit.

I was happy with the graphics back then, but I don't think anyone ever said, "The graphics will never get more real than this". My friends and I all expected that we'd probably have completely photo-realistic graphics by now.

Chunky or not those old graphics were way more bold and colorful. Not sure trying to get more realistic should have been the natural progression.

1999 this would have been true. By 2001 we had seen NFL 2K on Dreamcast and then Madden on PS2, which was closer to Madden 27 than it was to Madden 2001 on PS1

2k smoked this

Pittsburgh RB 36 HB Draw c up c up c up 15 yards every times

Fr😂

Funny how much it's still the same game

This Madden 98’ or 99’

🤣😂
