Apples and footballs: DIRECTV is limited by the size of the antenna; chosen by cities and municipalities. That limits the feed horn assembly; rain attenuation and rain drop size causes disruptions. Mars is transmitting to enormous antennas in multiple frequencies.

Incredible engineering. Incredible view.

I shopped Directv and they are now a streaming service. The dish costs extra.

It ain't the rain blocking the signal. It's the clouds. Use their streaming services. Problem solved.

And my cable internet gets throttled at least 5 times a day.
