Dance of Isaiah. You are amazingly misinformed.

Well, since I am an American and not some old world slav, I am sure I can be forgiven. I don't pay attention to your larp. Like I am supposed to know the "dance of Isaiah" literally you didn't know that 2 months ago when you were still protestant.

I am a cradle Orthodox Christian living in the U.S. I don’t know why you are being so combative. You are free to criticize Orthodoxy, but posting things that are untrue or misleading is a bad practice. If you want to teach the bad “Orthobros” a lesson, do so by being the opposite of what they supposedly are. Christians are called to be witnesses to the truth in the world.

Ortho bros spend all day painting Catholicism as the only communion with Problems. Which is a lie. I am correcting the lie.

Sharing a meme featuring the traditional vestments of the Russian Patriarch is funny, considering that I’m not Russian. I will share a quote of St.Paisios instead. “Most people are so consumed by earthly concerns and possessions that they never get to feel the love of God.”

This is called the Dance of Isaiah. It’s also done in Byzantine Catholic Churches. "Rejoice, O Isaiah! The Virgin is with child, And shall bear a son Emmanuel,Who is both God and Man,And Orient is His Name,Whom magnifying we call, the Virgin blessed."

Out of curiosity… what is your issue with orthodoxy? So far most of your criticisms exist in Catholicism. I’m not aware of any tradition orthodoxy has that cannot be found in any part of Catholicism.

Answering Orthodoxy profil fotoğrafı
Answering Orthodoxy1 ay önce

I don’t so much have a problem with orthodoxy as I do with the online Ortho bros. There is a nonstop attack on the Catholic Church by them and almost on every criticism they have the same issues exist within orthodoxy if not worse. There needs to be a response and that is what I’m trying to provide. I do believe that the Catholic Church is the true church and I think there are certain teachings within eastern orthodoxy that are very dangerous (allowance for birth control, divorce and remarriage, etc.). But I think historically Catholics have been pretty friendly towards orthodoxy. But if the online orthodox approach is to spend all their time attacking Catholics at some point in time they have to expect a response.

@mysteriousmetal Deaconesses actually were a thing in the early church. It is very rare these days, but the Ethiopian orthodox do this on occasion. @grok could you give context?

Grok profil fotoğrafı
Grok1 ay önce

Yes, deaconesses existed in the early Church, especially in the East. Phoebe is called a deacon (diakonos) in Romans 16:1. They assisted with women's baptisms (for propriety), catechesis, charity, and visiting the sick. The order involved ordination by laying on of hands and lasted for centuries before largely declining. In Ethiopian Orthodox tradition, liturgical texts reference deaconesses for pastoral care among women, per ancient sources like the Didascalia, though formal use is rare today. Recent restorations have occurred in some African Orthodox settings under the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

This is the Dance of Isaiah and it’s a normal part of the wedding, including for Byzantine Catholics. I know it’s strange because no one is singing Eagle’s Wings off-key, or wearing a voodoo mask or clown suit like in the standard NO mass.

Yes, Catholics abandoned Christian wedding sacrament rituals centuries ago. Now, Catholics do protestant "weddings." Bride and Groom circle the altar 3 times, the Dance of Isaiah. Eastern Catholics still do it.

Answering Orthodoxy profil fotoğrafı
Answering Orthodoxy1 ay önce

Our weddings are way better bro and everyone knows it. We don't need a priest doing a dance. Sorry.

Justin Phoster profil fotoğrafı
Justin Phoster1 ay önce

You dont have weddings at all. Your sacraments arent valid. All you do anyway is put rings on the wrong hand and kiss. Thats it. Literally. Its a vain, Godless, secular ceremony. Eastern Catholics still do it. Catholics used to do it centuries ago before modernizing heresies took over. Its further proof Catholics arent the true church and western "christianity" is taken over by satan's influence. You also abandoned the crowning. Insulting and mocking Isaiah himself is going to be awkward when facing Christ for Judgement. Yikes!

Answering Orthodoxy profil fotoğrafı
Answering Orthodoxy1 ay önce

😂 Your little church recognizes our sacraments. No convert to Orthodoxy has to get remarried. You are a protestant convert who doesn't even know your own faith.

Justin Phoster profil fotoğrafı
Justin Phoster1 ay önce

Nope. No sacraments outside the One True Church. Sorry boo. You are confusing your thoughts with Monophysites. Common for the Low IQ. Also, all converts already in a civil union do in fact either get an unvailing for the marriage in a blessing as a sacrament or do the full ceremony. Most I know do the full ceremony. Our parish just got converts, civil union for 14 years, they are doing their marriage ceremony in 2 months. Wow! 3 lies in one post! AMAZIN! Anymore low tier responses? My 10th grade theology & philosophy students can do better.
