𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐑 & 𝐊𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐒 #Ramayana👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 Ramanand Sagar ji was born near Lahore. After the partition, he had to move to Bombay. The first job he got in Bombay was offered by none other than Prithviraj Kapoor, the great-grandfather of #RanbirKapoor. He not only offered him the job of Assistant Stage Manager in Prithvi Theatre but also asked him to direct plays and guided him as a fatherly figure. Thus, Ramanand ji’s journey as director began. Kapoor saab offered him a job, gave him Rs 500, and helped him join Shalimar Studio in Pune, This gesture marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between Sagar & Kapoor families. After seeing his father’s faith in him, Trilok Kapoor, brother of Prithviraj Kapoor asked him to write his film Ek Teri Nishaani (1949). The same year, #RajKapoor approached him on his father’s advice to write a story for a film is gonna produce & act in with Nargis. Ramanand ji wrote the story as well as the screenplay for his 2nd production & his film #Barsaat. Ramanandji narrated to him the story which he had written in Lahore. The narration itself moved Raj Kapoor & Nargis to tears. Barsaat went on to make 1.1cr (equivalent to almost 700-800cr today) & became a monumental success, which helped Raj saab to build RK Films (the reason it has Barsaat poster as its logo. Ramanand ji’s biography written by his son Prem Sagar ji, also has #Barsaat in its title- “An Epic Life of Ramanand Sagar: From Barsaat to Ramayan”. Thus Ramanandji’s journey as a writer in Hindi cinema also began under the guidance of Kapoors. If Ramanand Sagar ji would’ve been alive today, he would’ve been so happy to see #RanbirKapoor playing the role of Prabhu Sri Ram with that too Arun Govil ji playing his father King Dasaratha, whom he cast to play Sri Rama for his television magnum opus which he wrote & directed. ❤️

Raymond.
