We're at the brink of a new web: the agentic web, which we’re calling Web 4o, an evolving ecosystem where we believe the web browser will play a critical role. AI isn’t just a tool anymore, it understands you, and acts on your intent - it’s agentic. That means taking a step toward fundamentally reimagining what a browser can be.

We’ve been working on agentic AI for the past two years, figuring out how to use AI to go beyond a simple conversation. We unveiled the initial results of our work in March 2025 with the introduction of Browser Operator – an AI agent that can browse and do things on the web for you.

Opera Neon is a big leap forward and offers a whole new browser experience. Built from the ground up to become your partner in the age of intelligent AI agents. It allows you to go far beyond the basics of chatting with AI agents by enabling you to do and make things in collaboration with them.

Neon Do: You browse, it acts. This one is powered by our new Browser Operator AI agent. It can fill forms, book trips and add stuff to your cart - automatically. All you have to do is click, and it’s done.

After developing our own AI engine for years, we’re deploying it in Opera Neon. While you may be familiar with chatting in AI, we innovated the approach for making it able to do and make things for you. It browses with you or for you locally – right inside your PC, prioritizing your empowerment and privacy. To make your idea into a tangible (digital) result, it employs AI agents contained in a virtual machine on our European-hosted servers.

Opera Neon isn’t new. It started as a concept browser back in 2016, where we reimagined what a browser could look like, and how it should work. Neons features have helped shape Opera as we know it today. Now, Neon is back to explore the next big shift: a browser built for the AI-native web.
