On the Iranian drone attack on the US military outpost inside Erbil Airport, and the missiles fired at the US Consulate in Erbil, all incoming projectiles have so far been intercepted, with no reported hits. Reports indicate that around two drones targeted the airport, while two to three missiles or rockets were launched toward the consulate. For now, the impact is mainly psychological. The dinar-to-dollar exchange rate is rising, and schools and universities across Kurdistan have been suspended at least until Wednesday.

I have studied SC/ST act in depth and I can say with full responsibility that SC/ST act of 2018 is the most draconian act of human history. Even Britishers never made such acts against Indians. This act is even far more draconian than the Rowlet Act Currently misuse of it is happening only in rural areas but the day it started to be misused in urban areas and specially by political parties, that will be a nightmare situation Provisions made in this act really crazy and completely against the principal of natural justice

We may have some #aurora fun coming! More than 4 solar storms have been launched in the past few days from Region 4334. Some of them are headed to Earth! Along with the fast solar wind picking up by January 9, we could see a bumpy ride with storm conditions peaking January 11. G1 conditions expected thus far, but another storm just launched so forecasts may be changing rapidly! The first video highlights storms launched since January 6. The second video shows a closeup of Storms 3 and 4, which launched today in the Earth-Strike Zone. More analysis is coming.

The Nakivubo channel project is a worthwhile endeavour, but if it is not handled carefully, the consequences will be dire. Ham should have first provided an engineering solution for the run-offs which flow through this channel before commencing any development works. I am not an engineer, but the first thing would have been widening and deepening the channel in order to create more room that's so far eaten up by the structure in the form of the shuttering materials used and debris. By the look of things, this is a disaster in waiting.

Last night, Lebanese Army Intelligence carried out a security operation inside the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut, during which they arrested Palestinian Shadi Mahmoud Mustafa al-Far, a former official in the Fatah Movement from Burj al-Barajneh camp, who had been expelled from the movement several months ago and is wanted under several judicial warrants. According to available information, Far was expelled from Fatah at the beginning of July after rebelling against the decisions of the Palestinian Authority (PA), rejecting the directives of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, and opposing the new appointments made by the PA in its embassy and Fatah offices in Lebanon. Following this rebellion, his office in the camp was raided and he was expelled from it in mid-July after refusing to hand it over, until his arrest last night inside the hotel. Reports indicate that the arrest was carried out in a highly calculated manner, as part of a series of measures by Army Intelligence to 'reinforce security' and pursue individuals wanted by the judiciary and those involved in sensitive security cases.

The eruptions of three volcanoes, years without summer, plagues, and famine wiped out a large portion of the population. If civilization had been as dependent on technology as it is today, the consequences would have been even worse. This year did not come out of nowhere. It was the result of a Grand Solar Minimum, which also contributed to climate change and crop failures. What's happening today, in my opinion, will be far worse than the events that marked the beginning of the Dark Ages.

While some continue to dig into the past in an attempt to reignite sectarian tensions and keep communities divided, more and more people are choosing to focus on the challenges of the present and the future. Catholics and Protestants have far more in common than what separates them. Across Northern Ireland people are beginning to see through the politics of division and are finding common ground on the issues that affect their families, communities and way of life. Unity does not mean forgetting the past. It means refusing to let it be used against us. A people united is far stronger than a people divided.
