Interesting video from then Speaker of Parliament Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in 1987, in response to a question from a foreign reporter about Iran closing the Strait of Hormoz after Kuwait asked the US Navy to get involved in the ongoing tanker war: "We never said we're just going to casually go and close the Strait of Hormoz. We would prefer the Strait of Hormoz is not closed. If the Strait of Hormoz is closed it causes us harm too. We will also suffer damage. We have always emphasized that we will close the Strait of Hormoz when the Persian Gulf cannot be used by us. If the Persian Gulf cannot be used by us then we will also make the Persian Gulf not usable for others. This is our policy. The people that have deprived us from that Gulf, they must also be deprived. And if we reach that day our threat is firm and we will close it, but we hope the world is wise enough not to bring that day and we consider it quite unlikely that day will happen."

Ernesto’s sanctuary was born in Aleppo 9 years ago, and today we went back to Aleppo to help this American lady and another animal shelter that is in the middle of the fighting. We took away with their permission the animals that were injured, we brought the aid that we could with our budget and we came back! Here in Syria we will not eat the cake tonight to celebrate the ninth year because we are physically and emotionally very tired. We invite you celebrate for us because it is above all your presence that counts. And if you can please help us to continue our help .

We visited the church, collected exhibits, and will be arraigning it in court for disturbing the peace and violating noise regulations. My Yearly Re-Post From 9/11 "I need your kiss...But Love and Duty called you someplace higher... I was there that sickening day back in 2001. The images are vividly tattooed in my brain. Driving to work as I do every day I would take the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. While we were in the tunnel we had heard on the radio that a "small plane" crashed into one of the Twin Towers. As we exited the tunnel, we were at a standstill for what seemed like an eternity. All we could do was watch the first tower in flames. Then just minutes after, as if everything just went into slow motion, I witnessed that second plane hit the Tower in real time, just 2 blocks away from where I was stranded. It just didn't seem real to me. Like everyone else you're just frozen, until you have that "moment" to process the impossible. But that's not the image that always "hits me". The image that will always shake me is replaying the chaos after the reality set in. We just left our cars, and ran from the Towers towards the FDR drive. As we ran from the hell behind us, I'm passing those Brave Firemen RUNNING INTO those burning towers without a thought of hesitation. To this day it's unfathomable to me. The term Heroes, Courage and Bravery are not nearly enough to describe those men and women. That day I was blessed and saved. Unlike countless others I was able to come home. I NEVER take that for granted. But every 9/11 anniversary, I also remember, that in the days and weeks after those horrifying attacks, how everyone came together. How all our other “problems”, the ones we thought were so "bad" and “important”, became insignificant. All the hate and barriers we built against each other were instantly cast aside. For a small time we unselfishly, and without a thought, helped one another, no matter what race, religion, or color. We became just one human race. We showed during that time, that we are capable to put aside all the pettiness, hate, stupidity and live the way G-D intended us to. Unfortunately as time passed, we slowly reverted back. I guess the shame of it all is that it shouldn’t have to take a “tragedy” to help one another, to be good to one another, or to wake us up and remind us what’s really important in life. To stop complaining about such insignificant matters, because as we remember every year on 9/11 , it could be so much worse. So much worse. We will NEVER forget the events on that sickening day. But we should also never forget during that time, how easily we rose above all of our differences, how we treated one another, and most importantly how that day reminded us how important and short life is. It shouldn’t take a tragedy for us to realize that it isn’t that hard, or even impossible. Today where we use the term "Heroes" so loosely for Rock Stars or Sport figures. Those are not heroes. The firemen, the policemen, the first responders, the volunteers, and of course the fallen on that world changing day, THOSE people are your definition of the term: HEROES. We removed subsidy so that we can have enough resources (money) to build infrastructure in the country and to support the economy. (I agree). But we are borrowing "in the light of the fuel subsidy removal & its impact on the national economy" ... so that we can build infrastructure and also support the economy. Me: Where is the excess we have saved from removing fuel subsidy? Please explain to me as a Nigerian teenager.
