This is wonderful!

It is!

This is what I like to see. Instead of jamming the guy up the cop helped him out. And instead of being belligerent the guy was very appreciative for the help. American and Japanese culture mesh well. In fact, I think we could learn a thing or 2 about cultural cohesion from Japan.

An amazing revelation. Listen to police, show ID, move on with your day. Crazy, who would've thought it was that easy?

These are the type of people we want coming to America

But wait, around here Amish are exempt and allowed to bike on highways...

Learn something new every day. Doesn't seem very safe though depending upon the highway.

Cop to Dispatch: "I got a Japanese guy riding a bike on a restricted access highway" Dispatch: "Impossible for Japanese guys to commit crime, just help the poor guy out"

His next route starts in Chicago. RIP ☠️

Another bored cop not helping anyone.

To protect and serve. He's enforcing the law and helping the fella. Literally, textbook.

God Bless this officer

Stupid ass cop tbh lol

Awesome example of to protect and serve.

He didn't protect or serve here btw

@belleofva You don't think it was dangerous to ride a bike there? He didn't help the young man to a safer location?

@belleofva No. If he wanted to help, he'd escort him, leave him alone, or put the bike in his suv and drive him somewhere safer. The cop wanted to be an asshole until he realized it was a Chinese dude not from America

@belleofva He escorted him in the video.

@belleofva "your bike is unsafe, so follow me as I drive backwards on the highway so you can lug your heavy ass shit up this steep rocky long grass ass hill cuz I'm protecting!!"

I've been pulled over on my bike while doing cross country tours. Cops are pretty nice in the Midwest... not so much when you reach California.

Well, that wasn't exactly the best idea. Could've gone to an actual exit ramp for a smoother ride. Maybe let him hang on the C pillar for a tow or something if you're willing to risk it.

Well, if you paid attention, he couldn't ride to an exit ramp as that would be illegal. The officer's job is not to "hang" or allow him to "risk it." I suppose he could have given him a ticket and impounded his bike as an illegal vehicle on the roadway though.

dude going to get hit by a car super unsafe to ride a bike on a highway.

"Land of the free" but also "sorry you cant use this road you haven't paid enough for your vehicle to be allowed to use it"

It's a safety issue, dear.

Yes and thats part of the problem. American infrastructure was based around the car due to the bribes of the auto markers back in the day resulting in getting anywhere without a car significantly more dangerous.

@belleofva You're Australian. Can you even bike anywhere without being mauled to death by some horrific creature?

@belleofva Wowowowowow now to close to home. We've all lost someone to the drop bears or wolfigators.

@belleofva I'm not being disrespectful. Living in Jurassic Park has to be rough.

@belleofva We fight for everything we have. We never know when the next wave of emus will arrive ready to take back the land we stole in the great emu war

Let’s see a female cop do that

Few other officials would have done this

Many would have.

Love this.

👍🏽

That guy is lucky he is not an American. Foreigners get the red carpet, Americans get the butt end.

People think I’m insanely racist but I’d gladly welcome as many Japanese people into our country with open arms as would like to come. Love the Japanese.

That is a super trooper.

A good one... Look it!

Yes occasionally they don't shoot your dog so we should just pretend they're the good guys now.

That's the thing. At least from my experience meeting Americans both inside and outside the US, normal Americans are usually more like this than those in many videos of unreasonable or crazy people on the internet. They are normal people, and they help others if they can.

Just part of the job.

Darnit, most videos involving police are made by jerks intimidating cops for blasted clicks. I’m tired of them - let’s show real policing like this, the real cops doing a dangerous job and giving a helping hand when needed!

How surprising. When you are polite and cooperate, police officers are pretty decent people.

Very enterprising young man, safe travels

Officers like this is why I don't want the force outright removed. Only the bad ones to be held accountable.

True

This is the America I want.

Cop is incorrect. If no viable alternative route exists, travel via highway shoulder is permitted. There are several places in the states where this occurs, I'm not a geoguesser expert to determine if this location would qualify.

Wonder how that would have went if it was a mexican

Would have been more American if he just left him alone.

Interacting with a cop in the US without knowing the language is a dangerous game
