RIP Greg Gumbel🙏🕯️ A true professional. What an unbelievable career. One of the first anchors at ESPN in 1979, and later a skilled studio host and play-by-play announcer for NBC and CBS across multiple sports — most notably the NFL and NCAA basketball. In 2001, Greg became the first Black announcer to call play-by-play of a major American sports championship — Super Bowl XXXV. He also called play-by-play for Super Bowl XXXVIII, which included the longest play from scrimmage in Super Bowl history.
