8 years ago today, Arsenal became the first team in history to beat the Premier League Champions in the FA Cup final, beating Chelsea 2-1 in what was at the time, Arsène Wenger’s worst season. Going into the game Laurent Koscielny was suspended, Shkodran Mustafi & Gabriel were injured, while captain Per Mertesacker had only played 37 minutes all season after missing A WHOLE YEAR through injury. Mertesacker ended up starting his first game of the season in the final & put in the best performance of his entire Arsenal career.

However in 2012, Koscielny scored the winning goal against West Brom on the final day of the Premier League season to secure Champions League football. As a result, Arsenal were able to sign Santi Cazorla & Olivier Giroud. Just a year later, in 2013, Koscielny scored the winning goal on the final day of the season again to secure Champions League football; this time against Newcastle. This allowed Arssnal to sign Mesut Özil from Real Madrid. In 2014, Koscielmy scored a 71st minute equaliser against Hull City in the FA Cup final after going 2-0 down. This helped Arsenal win their first trophy in 9 years. Redemption

Arsène Wenger would then sue the Dutch FA for misdiagnosing the injury & not sending him back to Arsenal straight away.
