Messi posted a 140-second video on Weibo, explaining why he didn’t play in HK. He ruled out political reason, his attitude seemed sincere. Now I personally accept his explanation. Of course, his image in HK & the mainland will be hard to repair. It’s the price he needs to bear.

Must be very painful, he couldn't smile or wave at the fans, or have a group picture with folks. My wishes of speedy recovery was godlike that he was action packed and so fit to play for 30 mins in Japan within 48 hours. Again, I just don't buy it.

Disagree with you. He wasn't sincere. He made this video only after receiving widespread backlash from people in China and HK which he had never expected when he showed his true color while in HK.
