The blue checkmark is introduced as symbol of authenticity propose to protect real users from impersonation. But social media platforms started serving it to elite users only and it's totally forgot meaning of blue checkmarks

the blue checkmark is only introduced in Twitter first time to protect real users from impersonation, so now why give it to elites only? If purpose is protection from impersonation! If so. why give special privilege to "elites" I'm also being impersonated why not give to me?
