Metal Gear Solid (1998)

For some reason, this scared the hell out of 9 year old me.

Me shooting the goons around me with the assault rifle on the elevator

Huge jumpscare that doesn't rely on a sudden loud noise, just slow mounting dread and a little screwing with the interface

I love this part of the game, the song and sound stops then you there the creepy music starts playing and a little Otacon jumpscare. But it's a shame twin snakes ruined it.

Twin snakes really dropped the ball with this particular codec call. The soundtrack and voice acting falls flat meanwhile the original version wonderfully builds tension throughout until you slowly realize that you’re not the only one in the elevator…

Definitely one of my favorite parts of the game
