When Daddy and Mum visited South Africa in 1966, they purposely flew over Robben Island at a low altitude and asked the pilot to wave his wings, knowing that Nelson Mandela and his band of brothers were below. Daddy never had the chance to meet Mandela because Mandela was imprisoned at the time. But decades later, when I stood in Cape Town for Mandela’s inauguration, Mandela told me that Daddy's visit to the University of Cape Town, where he gave his iconic "Ripple of Hope" speech, meant a great deal to the Anti-Apartheid Movement. In 1996, Mum returned to South Africa to commemorate the 30th anniversary of that historic trip, visiting university campuses, community organizations in Soweto and Crossroads, talking to business leaders, union officials, artists, members of the Mandela administration, Bishop Tutu and other faith leaders, and as many locals as she could reach. Then a call came from Mandela’s office inviting Mum to Johannesburg for an impromptu breakfast at his home. She always spoke of that morning with deep affection and admiration for Mandela’s resilience: a man once imprisoned, now South Africa’s first Black president. That's the video you're watching. On Nelson Mandela Day, I'm reflecting on Mandela’s extraordinary legacy and the courage and hope that continue to inspire people around the world to this day.

I don’t get nervous often, but when I was blessed with the chance to meet Nelson Mandela in 1996 - I was shaking! While touring with my team of former NBA players, President Mandela invited us down to play games and run free basketball clinics with giveaways in the villages of South Africa. I was, and still am, in awe of all of the peaceful work and leadership that President Mandela displayed in the face of adversity. He is a hero to me, and his legacy still carries strong throughout the world!

If the media and haters can say what they want without any consequences or even proof then why can’t his family tell you the real story of Michael Jackson? Despite the hate, the film is close to $250M worldwide. Jaafar Jackson was phenomenal, the musical sequences were so satisfying and I absolutely adored seeing this innocent and kind side to Michael.
