If the media and haters can say what they want without any consequences or even proof then why can’t his family tell you the real story of Michael Jackson? Despite the hate, the film is close to $250M worldwide. Jaafar Jackson was phenomenal, the musical sequences were so satisfying and I absolutely adored seeing this innocent and kind side to Michael. Yet, as an audience, we've let him down by constantly asking for songs, despite his staggering output of over 7,000 compositions. If we had commercially supported his musical albums, he might have transcended all limits by now.

FINALLY someone perfectly explained what makes Tae’s voice SO unique, to the point that it sounds like a voice effect but it’s just his way of singing higher notes in a low larynx that creates that hollow effect! He even mentions the way he rounds out his vowels too which add to his uniqueness and that he naturally does this while speaking. Tae was really blessed with the most beautiful and unique vocal texture Really really love this reactor. Got to see the singer of simple songs, the McCartney of country music, take his final bow last night. To say this man wrote the soundtrack of my life is an understatement. Along with Leonard Cohen, he was my father’s favorite artist, I soaked up all of his brilliant records from Here in the Real World onwards as a kid. The iconic Brent Mason guitar licks, the way his lyrics would dart between profound poetry and equally profound simplicity, his invisibly perfect phrasing and deft instinct for singing singing or just being a transparent vessel for a genius melody or lyric that didn’t need any extra sauce. Tonight he stood on stage with his band the Strayhorns, many of whom have been by his side since his early days playing honky tonks four decades ago, and played a set that rarely betrayed the import of the occasion. We got to tour him twice in Australia, the first being a particularly momentous occasion in the history of country music down under, and tonight’s show wasn’t that different to any of those on those tours. About fifteen or so of the great country songs ever written - wry, sad, inspirational, heartbreaking - put across with dazzling sincerity and charisma from a man who has served as the North Star of an entire genre since he started putting out records. There was a really impressive session. Do you know the song ? It’s a very famous song that everyone knows, young or old. He sang that song, and this one kid was like, “I know this song!” and then Suga-sshi be like, “How do you know this song?” and the kid would answer, “I listen to it all the time when I go camping with my dad!”, like that, and then we sang out loud. I remember all the therapists who worked together were all laughing happily. Isn’t music something that breaks down language barriers for people around the world? There were instruments on display, and when we asked them to choose the one they wanted, some chose hand bells, some chose xylophones, some chose drums, some chose electronic drums, and some brought instruments they liked or knew how to play, like clarinet or saxophones. They chose various instruments and played together. At that time, Suga-sshi be like, "You start first, and I'll match it." And he matched with the rhythm. And there was a session where they had to write letters to each other. Suga-sshi would gently play the guitar to match the speed of the speech, the rhythm too, he would match it like, speed up or slow down to match the speed. With that, thanks to Suga-sshi, the children got to experience the words and music coming together. Interestingly, although we told the parents (of children with autism spectrum disorder) that Suga-sshi was participating as an assistant therapist and volunteer, our children participated it without knowing that the music teacher was Suga-sshi at all. Sometimes I would wonder if Glen Hansard really existed…. Seriously, he was such an angelic presence… not otherworldly…in fact, very present this presence… A smiling rascal if you needed him to be… this most musical and mischievous archangel of Ballymun… no airs, plenty of graces... Of course, Glen was the shining star of the Christmas Eve busk… sometimes the only one reminding the rest of us that Christmas began with a refugee born in a manger, which is hardly a step from living on the street. To be utterly yourself by being more interested in others - a clue for any of us trying out different personas. He really was who you thought he was. He could never walk by a person living rough without checking they were OK… and more than that, he worked very hard so that less people had to live on the streets in the first place. When the crowds got bigger and for safety’s sake Glen had to agree to move the busk to a stage kindly provided outside The Gaiety Theatre, he would say 'we’ll give it our best but it’s not a busk if we’re not on the street!’ …because that’s who he was - a performer at eye level in any situation. The stage was a separation he wouldn’t recognize. Of all the grand and gigantic venues he and The Frames played, you sensed the street was his most favoured place to perform. And street people, his favourite audience. Voice of the streets. A choir of angels in one man. The rest of us blessed to stand there beside our very own and very earthed Angel Gabriel… All of us welcome in his choir, whatever shape or form. ….and I’m telling myself this morning that if he never existed, then he can never cease to exist. “Billie Jean” is from Michael Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller, but the performance that permanently transformed the song into a cultural phenomenon came at the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever television special, recorded on March 25, 1983.
