Zoomers basically think if a guy isn’t dribbling a billion times for no reason and doing lower percentage acrobatic entertainment shots from half court, they arent “as good as today.” It’s the opposite. The poor ball movement, lack of fundamentals away from the ball, no focus on defense, and preference for “look at me” plays instead of efficient footwork and dribbling is in fact, indicative that players today are much worse *playing* the game than in previous eras

I say this as a man born in 2003. I truly believe his skill was 1 of 1 and one of a kind. That type of skill that can be plugged into any era. Even with Chapel Hill and 84 Olympic games, his game was fundamentally sound.

The stutterstep move he’d do when he was younger, breaking a guy down on the perimeter before cutting to the basket, I don’t know how you can defend that. That’s why the Pistons decided to put him on the floor whenever he got into the paint. You couldn’t keep him out.

MJ would destroy this generation’s players. No bigs camped out in paint all day & most players today don’t play defense. Not to mention the rules that benefit offense. And MJ didn’t cry when he got fouled hard he came at you the next play.
