To be honest, I think they thought they sold his stock when it at its "peak", that he couldn't be the player he is today. Otherwise, it makes no sense whatsoever, because they could have gotten way more for him in return if he were to remain for even another half a season. The age excuse does not make much sense because of it. At that time, the Wizards wanted two first round picks for Kyle Kuzma (LOL) from the Kings, but they didn't get. Suddenly they got something similar from the Blazers for Deni.

Now way in this World you can see someone as a High level Ascending player on a team with no high level young guys to be hopeful for at the time. And think “let’s trade this guy for nothing because he’s the guy we think has the most potential” That way when we do that we’ll be able to have more draft picks because we’re trash and hopefully be able to find guys with his potential that we can build around 1 day🤯🤯🤯 I would fire him off this meeting alone
