This whole staff can play Daddy all it wants but it doesn't translate to fundamentals, efficiency, development, or success. These football dads are ruining the program 2yr post-Natty.

Kelvin Sampson explains what great coaching looks like and why coaching is really teaching. "What is it that you learned new today? Write it down so you don't forget it." "Make a list of the things you learned. Then go find an assistant coach tomorrow and say, 'Here's the things I learned today. Can you show me what coach meant with video?'" Learn how your players best learn and meet them where they are. "Coach's job is to figure out who learns at what rate. There's nothing wrong with any rate they learn." Then he dropped the line every coach needs to hear: "Nothing's ever been learned until it's been taught. And nothing's ever been taught until it's been learned." "Our job is not coaching. COACHING HARD A lot of comments on recent videos asked what it means to coach players hard. I think the initial reaction to that we think of a Coach screaming and yelling. I don’t really consider that ‘Coaching Hard’. Coaching hard to me means you are fully invested in the player, want them to succeed, have had conversations with them about it, laid out the standards and expectations for them, then YOU HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE TO THAT. The coaching hard part takes different shapes and forms, it’s not always yelling… but the accountability and care has to be strict, that’s what makes it seem hard to the player

You can't hold someone to a standard you and they haven't defined. You don’t hold players accountable to you. You hold them accountable to the version of themselves they said they want to become. I really enjoy being around them, coming to work every single day, the coaching staff, the organization, so anytime we get to suit up and play and we'll put on this jersey and play the game of basketball. It's an amazing day and very blessed to do it."

Richard Sherman asked Mike Vrabel about the Pats defense and taking some other team's castoffs and "breathing new life into them" Vrabel: "Well it's a testament to them ... They take the coaching, they take the hard coaching, they take the constant coaching. We tell them we're going to coach the hell out of them Monday-Saturday, then Sunday is their day to go play and let it loose and they have. We have a lot of guys that have taken advantage of opportunities, when you do that you earn more opportunities. We got great leadership at all 3 levels of the defense, I'm proud the way their play. Sometimes we give up the first drive of the game, then we go 3 & out for 6 more series, so they learn quickly and adjust."
