The hurdle drill cleaned up more of our pull issues than anything else. Why we use it: • Forces depth on the pull First 2–4 steps matter. Kids who cheat depth get exposed immediately. • Separates kick vs wrap paths Kick comes downhill. Wrap gains depth, gets square, eyes inside. • Teaches speed through contact If they slow down at the hurdle, they’ll slow down on Friday night. • Fixes aiming points Kick = same shoulder as pull direction. Today I went through every 3-2 pitch Juan Soto saw in the 2025 season. Three things stuck out: 1️⃣ He Doesn’t Expand - he has some of the best strike zone awareness of anyone in the game. When he gets to two strikes, he does not chase or expand the zone. Most players start swinging at pitcher’s pitches. He makes pitchers execute a quality pitch to get him out. 2️⃣ He Competes! -he takes great pride in being a tough out. He battles. He doesn’t give in. He finds a way to get on base. 3️⃣ His Approach - because he’s so willing to use the entire field, his two strike approach does not need to change much. He gets a long look at each pitch because he’s willing to hit the fastball to the opposite field and pull the breaking ball.

Behind the ball is how you get depth AND length out front. (Not one or the other) Here’s what it actually gives you: 1. You swing more connected and deeper. 2. The barrel enters earlier and stays in longer. You get both. 3. Depth behind what buys you length out front. Most guys are picking one or the other. 4. You sling the barrel through. You’re not shoving it or yanking it into the zone. 5. You actually use the ground. Behind the ball you turn. If you’re not using the ground, you’re probably sliding and pulling everything towards the ball. 6. Your bat speed becomes usable. Pushed and pulled bat speed still reads fast vs one pitch one speed. Only one of them shows up on the barrel, in the zone, on time vs pitching. — Cue for your next round: let the ball get deeper than usual, and turn behind a wall. Ferris State HC Tony Annese - GT Counter Triple Option - Quarterback Fundamentals... Catch the ball and make a 1/8th turn to face the DE you are reading. Stab the ball back off of your back hip. Mesh with the RB while reading the DE. The DE must squeeze hard enough to tackle the RB in order for you to pull the ball. If he does pull and seed the ball at your chest. Attack the pitch key's outside shoulder (1st man outside the tackle box). If he darts to the slot keep the ball. If he stays with you, pitch the ball and avoid the hit. -Running Back Fundamentals... Take 2 shuffle steps for depth (almost like a OT pass set). Wait for the ball to be brought back to you. Once it is, track behind your pullers making sure to keep a big pocket so the QB can get a good mesh. Once you get the ball follow your pulling tackle and fit off of his block. Get upfield at the first opportunity. -Slot Fundamentals... The motion timing is on the slot on this play. Motion as late as possible to still get in pitch position (we would try to motion at the snap on this play but depending on how fast each slot is they may have to cheat it a bit). Motion at the QB's heals and run full speed. Once you get into pitch phase yell for the ball to let the QB know you are there and stay in pitch phase till you get the ball. -Perimeter Blocking - On this play we will switch block with our WR and Slot. That means the WR is going to block the high safety and the Slot will block the corner. We leave the OLB as the pitch key. We still want to make sure we are square to the man we are blocking so the slot will go flat down the LOS until he gets to the same vertical plane as the corner and then he will climb to block him.

Caleb Williams and the Bears offense took 6 sacks on 9 charted pressures (PFF) in Week 14 Five on 3rd down Let's look through them... 1) WR spacing is brutal. Some type of mesh concept that ends in confusion. Eyes drop versus looping rusher. Sack 2) This one is on Caleb, IMO. LT forces the rusher around the hoop. Plenty of space for Caleb to hit DJM or Kmet - both looking back for the ball - to get a tough first down or set up 4th and short. QB pats the football instead. 3) Instant interior disruption. All that needs to be said 4) DJ Moore takes some time to get into his route - is open on the in-breaker as a free looper inside flashes in front of Caleb. “How to Mix Up Charged Fireballs” 0:00- When going for a fully charged fireball, if the opponent starts forward jumping after seeing the charge, mix in Level 2 charged fireballs to make your timing harder to read. 0:08- If opponents try to fireball bypass with moves like Akuma or Ryu’s Tatsumaki against fully charged or Level 2 fireballs, mix in lightly charged fireballs instead. 0:25- If a lightly charged LP fireball hits a Tatsumaki that was used after mistaking it for a charged fireball, you can follow up with Drive Rush or SA1. 0:35- A situation where the opponent reacts to Viper charged fireball with a forward jump heavy Blanka Ball. If they start looking for that option, Akuma can counter by mixing in lightly charged fireballs. 0:47- From very far ranges, it’s possible to avoid a fully charged fireball on reaction with a neutral jump. Tackle Sets - 4 sets (Jump/Quick/45/Vertical) - JS eat up space attack inside out, (visual we say is smell their breath, close that much space) heavy inside hand to stop inside rush, strong outside hand blow to widen rush, outside shoulder target if swing/bubble to protect throw - QS flat as possible want to cover ground quick get in their face but play longer than JS - 45 base Set, set them on angle to defeat speed & knock them outside create wide dish, take an angle to take them off their rush, still heavy inside hand focus to take away b gap rush - Vertical when expecting true speed or twist, create initial space, talk about first big kick then settle pace to match theirs - stay square, turn shoulders when they do but always maintain leverage - General aiming points your near hand to their far armpit, inside hand heavy catch hand (think grab bicep/tricep if inside move) - two hand punch heavier inside near armpit pec location for inside hand - will drill in pre practice the set tree and in practice partner rush where dl will get 2 to 3 rushes on you and OL has to do different set each time rapid fire - Great job by these guys #5STRONG #BIGDAWGS
