Mick Jagger has signed a petition opposing a plan that would provide affordable homes for at least 190 people because it would spoil his view from the other side of the river We can't afford a system that lets anything from rockstars to rare spiders block new development

Disingenuous. Jagger is one of 1,500+ locals (inc. their Labour MP) who oppose this tower because it's out of scale/character with the area, violates the site height limit of 6 storeys & marks yet more egregious private profiteering on London's premier public space, the Thames.

Why is it 50% social housing? Seems unfair on normal people who have to pay market rent.

The issue probably isn't that Mick Jagger objects, but that another 29-storey eyesore will be inflicted on London, and for vast profit.

29 stories you mong. I wouldn’t want to look at that where I live, never mind if I had paid millions for a river view.

I live in the area and have written to my local MP, local planning committee, and local ward councillors in support of this development. The only response I was met with was skepticism as to why I'm supporting it as if I was being paid by developers or something 😅

He’s entitled to his opinion & to object if he wishes to. He’s a British resident about to be affected by changes isn’t he? You think he’s not entitled because why exactly?

It's way too tall for the area. No-one would have a problem with this building being redeveloped if it stuck to heights set out in the local plan. The problem is there are rules but developers get greedy and try to break them.
