Mickey Mantle interviewed in 1954. Really fascinating interview

That's Lew Fonseca, the 1929 AL batting champ, doing the interview. He pioneered the use of film in baseball, and changed how the game is analyzed and promoted. Also managed the #WhiteSox and was the #Cubs hitting coach for a time.

He could fly before the knee injury.

Mickey Mantle is the best all time. He could hit a ball 550ft. Next time up he would drag bunt for a single. Best Defensive Center Fielder in the American League. #7 was my hero

Good stuff. I didn't know he was so fast.

By implementing the drag bunt, it would bring the infield in and open up angles to get base hits. Mickey was a true 5-tool player.

Never seen much mantle interviews. Can't tell if he has an Oklahoma southern blend or if he was saucing early on in his career too lol
