Might be the worst obstruction call you’ll ever see

This is the equivalent of flopping in baseball.

🇺🇸 One Nation, under Trump, Stronger THAN EVER. Are you Trump Tough? 💪Tough T's Here:

Why are umpires at every level working so hard to support robot umpires at every level.

Runner intentionally created the obstruction by running towards the catcher. This wasn’t his path.

That’s an umpire just waiting for the opportunity to call obstruction there lol.

@TalkinBaseball_ After the game the umpire went to the Bronx to call balls and strikes for the Red Sox

Catcher could’ve just walked him all the way back and tagged the other guy smh Deserved

This is a heads-up play by the baserunner, and clearly is someone who is aware of playing rules terminology. By rule, this IS technically obstruction and is the correct call... but it definitely goes against the spirit and intent of what the rulebook writers meant, in my view.

This is one of the worst new trends in baseball

The infield fly rule was instituted to prevent “making a mockery of the game.” No rule should be interpreted in a way that makes a mockery of the game, no matter how “by the letter” an interpretation may be.

@TalkinBaseball_ Base runner was out of the baseline. No obstruction.
