Incredible. 3rd baseman played a role here as well. Standing nonchalant without body language to indicate the ball is incoming. Terrible job by the 3rd base coach as well.

Third baseman was just as shocked as the third base Coach, who was just as shocked as all the people sitting in the stands and the rest of the players on the field. Nobody imagined he would be able to make that throw with his back turned no momentum.

Great throw, no doubt, but it isn't with a runner going full out, nor is that runner fleet. Clemente several times, Dwight Evans, The Cobra, Ankiel, Ferguson in CF in the '74 series are all in pressure moments & greater distances & trajectories. He's a stud OFer but no.

“The best throw” can’t be against a runner that didn’t even slide. If the guy slides, he’s safe. Also, a throw to third from RF doesn’t ever beat a throw to home plate from RF.

Similar to how making an open shot in basketball would never be considered as good as making the same shot with a guy defending him well. The guarded shot is always considered better. You can’t rate something the best if the opponent isn’t even trying as hard as he could.

I agree. It’s impossible to pick one throw to rule them all. Bo has a bunch. Ankiel, Clemente, even Yasiel Puig had some throws that could be mentioned in best throws ever. But this one stunned me legitimately. I was with my dad and we sat silent for a good 3 mins.

That was a great throw no doubt. I still remember sitting in lower right field grandstands , Fenway 1976 - ish, Dwight Evans made a similar throw from the warning track to nab a runner for a potential triple.
