Mike Johnson: "The ballroom will be a solution for this. It'll have 7-inch thick glass, so it'll be a very safe environment to do events like that. We need a place like that and the president keeps pointing it out."

It’s not even big enough to host the WHCD. Total bogus argument.

Mike Johnson after school shootings: “Thoughts and prayers.” Mike Johnson after WHCD shooting: We need a bulletproof ballroom with 7-inch thick glass, so it'll be a very safe environment to do events like that. Behold the priorities of MAGA Republicans.

Who came up with this horrendous talking point? The American people don’t give a damn about that ballroom, and the correspondents dinner is about correspondents. They choose the venue.

Also...

@CaronJo65392080 Do they have a size that would fit him?? 😂😂😂

So are the planned professional fights on the White House grounds this summer going to be in the ballroom?

@throbbingvicar Enough from you, you ass kidding toadie. We know what you’ll say before you say it. Go run to your next elevator and STFU.

And the outside golfing 3 times a week, the ballroom will help then? In Florida where he spends 40% of his Presidency, it'll help there? And the UFC arenas? The rallies? Every campaign stop in the midterms he hits? That $400+m protects him all those places? No? Seems like a waste

Now Republicans are for safe spaces. But instead of addressing the root cause of gun violence and passing gun reform to solve it, they just want to build their glass bunkers while our kids are at risk every day. I can't wait to kick all of these bums out in November.

Piss off, Mike.

this one's for you, Mike, you slobbering coward

So if I follow this logic, Trump can never leave the White House or attend any event not held in the ballroom

If they get past security like they did yesterday, you're still stuffed.

No. Too soon . thoughts and prayers for you as you do for others

So...the President is under such great threats that he can't be present at a hotel anymore? How will Republicans campaign on the road if everything has to happen at a building that may never be finished?

The more they justify their solution the more staged it sounds? I dunno lol

Keystone Kash. They want their "ballroom" so badly because the new ("not woke") FBI and Secret Service can't even secure a Hilton for an event. Total failure.

Why? He thinks WH is his to do whatever he wants WITHOUT approval first? He plasters the Oval Office w tacky gilded gold, he wants to build a huge D.C. arch self named? Places his name over John F. Kennedy Center? Citizens are tired of Trump's self-entitled acts. 24/7 tired.

@All1970Fre71850 He was a hotel guest. The security worked. He was caught a floor ABOVE Trump. Trump’s unconstitutional and corrupt ballroom solves a problem that didn’t exist. Why doesn’t Trump just follow the Constitution and submit a funding request to Congress? You know, follow the law?

I assume Trump will never attend a UFC fight again right? Unless it’s in a ballroom

@mrbigg450 If Trump needs to be in his stupid ballroom to be safe, then he needs to stop golfing, attending “rallies”, speaking at TPUSA, going to NASCAR, the US Open, football games, WWE, and MMA.

Trump could advocate for a public execution of Mike Johnson and Johnson would then do the media circuit explaining why it’s a good idea.

Has anyone seen KELLY? Mike ran away without his wife. Fucking pussy pos.

Why don't you all think! How will be protected at outdoor events i.e golfing and a zillion rallies? Idiocy.

Poppycock! Mike Johnson is using Saturday's shooting to fast-track a ballroom Trump already wanted. The security pitch is disingenuous. First, the WHCA event is not a Trump Administration event. WHCA would be foolish to host it in a ballroom Trump or any POTUS controls. He'd use it as leverage to dictate moderators, guests, and access. Isn't that the entire point of an independent press dinner? Second, the POTUS goes here, there, and everywhere to play golf and hold rallies. If the Secret Service can't secure a venue, then the POTUS just doesn't need to be there. The ballroom can fuck off.

Whether it's even legal to host a private event like this at the White House is questionable. When we get to the point where our President can only be safe behind bulletproof glass, we probably need to take a step back and ask why, rather than just adding more armor.

7 inch thick glass to protect 7 micron thick skin.

Why was the security at this event so lax? By the looks of how many agents cleared the room, they definitely had the man power.

Mike is giving away the motive for the staged event Saturday night? Got it!

Does @SpeakerJohnson know that no guns ever entered the ballroom, so security DID work?

How religious is Mike Johnson?

@SpeakerJohnson Until our children are safe in our schools, there is no "WE", there is just "YOU"

What’s "imperative" is a list of invitees verified by ID, security with metal detectors and common sense entrances. No ballroom needed.
