Miley Cyrus says Hannah Montana taught her that the real Miley was less valuable Monica Lewinsky: "Have you ever felt trapped by them?" Miley: "Sometimes I do. The show’s concept, literally the synopsis of the show, was that Miley is a regular girl. She can’t get a date, she has zits, she’s just normal, and that’s not interesting. She’s not special because she’s regular" "And then Hannah puts on this drag. Hannah is like the tween drag queen. She puts on a wig and her bedazzled jeans, she sings hit songs, and suddenly she has thousands of people chasing her, wanting to take photos of her, and every boy wants to date her" "I don’t know if that was completely healthy for the psyche as a young impressionable girl. My writers were teen comedy writers. They weren’t Dr. Amen" "Dr. Amen might be sitting in the writers’ room going, ‘I don’t know if this is positive. You shouldn’t reinforce this to her every single day. Maybe Miley should get a date with a hotter guy than Hannah gets a date with, something that shows Miley she’s more or as valuable as Hannah’" "Having that ingrained into my mind all day kind of made me create a character of myself. The Miley that puts on the Hannah persona is more valuable than the regular me"

This Is The Life songwriter Shari Short thanks Hannah Montana for changing her life: “One day, Jeannie called me and said they wanted to use "This Is the Life" in a Disney TV show. A young 12-year-old girl named Miley Cyrus was going to re-record it. We had no idea what was coming. That song ended up on Hannah Montana an album that went triple platinum and hit #1 on Billboard for three weeks. I still remember the moment I received my first check from Disney. I had just finished a shift at work, opened it in my car... and completely broke down in tears. It was more than I had made in an entire year working both jobs combined. it changed my life. If you were watching Hannah Montana back then... you were part of that journey too. We were all in it together. So for that, I just want to say thank you to Jeannie Lurie, Hannah Montana, to Miley Cyrus... and everyone at Disney ....my life was forever changed because of you.”

The biggest plot twist ever: Hannah Montana and her show never happened—it was all Destiny Hope Cyrus's imagination. She imagined being Miley Stewart and living a double life. Everyone she met and all the events that happened were just in her head.

Creator Michael Poryes reveals Miley Cyrus fought Disney to change the ending of Hannah Montana after they wanted to reveal it was all a dream: “A 16-year-old pushed back against Disney! I wanted Miley to go to college, to show that fame isn’t everything, but Disney wanted to make it all a dream where Miley Cyrus wakes up and realizes the entire show was a dream. We even filmed that version with her real parents. The person who had the ultimate choice was Miley. Miley said, ‘If Michael wants it that way, I support Michael,’ and Disney changed it. She was 16... Most stars wouldn’t do that at 16, but she did”
