🚨 TUKARAM MUNDHE : "Paneer means protein. You evaporate the milk and make paneer. What we found in Maharashtra is that 35% of samples have trans fatty acids in it, which is an indication of analogue paneer. How is that paneer if you have trans fats in it? People say 'Oh, I am eating paneer, still I’m not getting muscles and I am getting fat' Because you cannot add palm oil to paneer"

What’s really in the paneer you’re buying? > Hyderabad Task Force has uncovered widespread misbranding and adulteration in the paneer supply chain. >Cheese analogue products made using vegetable fats and non-dairy ingredients were allegedly being sold as paneer, malai paneer and milk paneer. >In several cases, products were marketed under labels such as “Fresh Paneer”, “Low Fat Paneer” and “Premium Paneer” without proper disclosure. > Inspections also revealed the addition of starch, excess water, non-milk fats, use of poor-quality or synthetic milk, sale of unlabelled products, illegal repackaging, and operations without valid FSSAI licences. > Around 45 outlets and 8 manufacturing units were inspected, with nearly 825 kg of suspected adulterated and misbranded products seized. Such practices can expose consumers to food poisoning, allergic reactions and inferior-quality food.

The NEW PANEER LAW is here n it’s about time... FSSAI : “Analogue paneer” ≠ paneer...Can’t sell oil + starch as dairy anymore... Maharashtra rule from May 1 : Restaurants must write on menu/bill if it’s real paneer or substitute.. Licence cancelled if they lie.. Real paneer = milk, protein... Fake paneer = veg oil , starch... Govt planning a complete ban next.. Know what you’re eating.. Atleast good work by maharashtra govt n FSSAI... #PaneerLaw #FakePaneer #FSSAI #FoodSafety #Maharashtra Vdo courtesy - Instagram - 2blissofbakery

Analogue paneer (paneer made with palm oil) is spreading across India, and here are 3 simple tests to find out if your paneer is real or not! 1) 𝐃𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭: boil paneer, add toor dal, and wait for 10 minutes. If the water turns red, urea may be present in your paneer. 2) 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭: the ingredient list of analogue paneer will have “starch” and “palm/vegetable oil” written. 3) 𝐈𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭: Put a few drops of iodine on the paneer. If it turns blue, it is analogue paneer. Analogue paneer is around 210 Rs. per kg whereas real paneer can go up to 450 Rs. per kg. So it’s no surprise that most street vendors and many restaurants opt for analogue paneer to cut costs. Unfortunately, analogue paneer is legal according to FSSAI. Analogue paneer also has trans fats that lead to long-term health issues, including a higher risk of heart disease. Stay aware and share this with your loved ones! #LabelPadhegaIndia

Great News! 🚨 Restaurants now have to disclose whether they are serving Real Paneer or Analogue Paneer in Maharashtra. Maharashtra restaurants will be heavily fined if they miss mentioning this on their menus! India’s restaurants and street vendors are filled with analogue paneer, since it is cheaper. Last year I did a lab test for 10 paneers. I chose branded, dairy, restaurant and street paneers. All of the restaurant and street paneer failed in the test, and were analogue paneer. Real paneer is made from milk but analogue paneer is often made using vegetable oil and starch, which has much lower protein. I think every state in India should adopt this rule, not just Maharashtra! Let’s Make India Healthy Again!
