Mind boggling indeed!

It tricks the mind because first you count 2 almonds on each corner. But if you take one almond from each corner and place it to the sides, where is only one, you'll have 5 on each side. The corners are counted twice. So you need 4 more almonds to fix the 6 in each line :)

Simple matter of changing the overlapping corners to one and filling the non overlapping segments to a double. Nothing mind boggling about it

Simple! The common boxes were initially having 2 seeds, but now they have 1 seed.

Mind boggling indeed! The idea that people can get mind boggled by this video is mind boggling!!

i asked Grok to unboggle my mind im still boggled: The post features a 90-second video of a popular illusion trick using 16 almonds on a 4x4 grid, where double-stacked corners initially allow each perimeter side to visually count as six almonds, misleading viewers on the total. Rearranging by moving one almond from each corner to inner grid spots preserves the 16 count but drops some line totals to 1-3, creating the "mind-boggling" discrepancy through shared positioning and perceptual overlap. Rooted in Gestalt psychology, this variant of the 2024 "infinite almond glitch" highlights inattentional blindness, where focused counting ignores holistic verification, as shown in peer-reviewed work like Simons and Chabris' 1999 gorilla experiment on selective attention.

It's because the extra almonds in the corners were all double counted So by removing almonds from the corner all the almonds become single counted so you can add 4 and the count stays the same

There is nothing boggling about that, unless you don’t have a mind.

Easy. It's because the the corner 2 almonds are being accounted for twice (ie they're included in the count along 2 sides). When the corners are changed to 1 each and the 4 middle almonds are moved to the sides, they make up the deficit, so the total is still 6 each side.

Math is simple: when on the corner it’s considered twice, while on the middle it’s considered just once. That’s the difference between the beginning and the end of the video.

Do you seriously need @grok ???

It’s not about the total amount of almonds (which is what people’s brain automatically pays attention to)but how to arrange them in sequence to have the equal amount around the perimeter. Tricky but understandable.

I think I got it

@grok go through this video and explain what's happening with maths.

What is mind boggling is their inability to see what is being done! Don’t count edges, count individual boxes and total

He’s counting the corner boxes twice. Simply count the beans individually and you’ll count how many seeds are there.

Earlier, 2 almonds were placed in the 4 corners, which contributed to the common count. later, it was moved to the sides, and the picked almonds were also moved to the sides, so there was no more common factor.

Americans 😂

Very very simple logic. Shared resource becoming exclusive resource here.

Only "mind boggling" if you're 5 or a dog.

Almond at Corners are the part of the trick...

@grok explain the puzzle?

He takes the almonds from the corners and places them in the middle. The table initially had 16 almonds, and it still has 16. Because the almonds in the corners are counted both horizontally and vertically, it seems like there's a different situation.

Simple as math of changing the corner amount that used on 2 equations not magic, not weird, it's first grade math.

That's not that mind boggling. All you end uo doing is removing collectively shared values to individual rows being the center pieces instead of the edges

His just removing the ones on the corner and placing them in the middle. The trick is how many you have in the corner

stop double counting.

each corner is counted twice, this is fucking retarded

the clue is that the corners start off with two almonds each but end up with only one. Thus reducing the count in each row/column.

@grok explain me how the illusion works. And help me make it DYI

They can’t be that stupid?!

Nice trick, to remove the almonds from the corner to the area between the corners.

Each corner box is counted twice. There aren't 4x6 almonds to begin with. Then he removes almonds from the corners that are counted twice, and add that almond to the middle which is counted once. This way he can add an additional almond without affecting his fake total
