While I think Madzibaba is embellishing the account of how Macheso parted ways to form his own band, Madzidaddy is a more effective leader than most. Madzibaba allowed Alick Macheso to write and lead on songs while still at Khiama. As far back as 1991, Madzibaba allowed Macheso to write and sing his own songs on Khiama Boys albums. Macheso’s early songs included Shamiso. On the other hand, while Macheso is very talented, he has never allowed any of his crew members to write and record their own songs on Mberikwazvo albums. That’s why there is so much churn on his core team. Madzibaba also allowed then band members System Tazvida & Cephas Karushanga to write and lead on Mabhauwa, a scorcher released ~ 1990. Macheso has led his own band for 28 years. He now needs to nurture talent found in his own group.

eric said he's been working on a lot of songs lately, including songs he made for his future solo debut and songs for the boyz albums.. he said if a song he originally made for himself ended up being included in a group album instead, he would absolutely welcome it because the biggest meaning for him is having the members he loves sing the songs he wrote 🥹🥹 and since the boyz's 9th anniversary is coming this december, eric plans to keep sending his songs in the group chat to persuade the members to like his songs (so they could release them !) 😆
