Star Fox Battle Mode is already getting called out for only having three maps. The people saying that are the same ones who burn out on every other multiplayer mode once the new map rotation drops. Three maps works here because the matches stay short, the objectives are actually worth fighting over, and there is enough crazy stuff happening that you are constantly battling the level itself as much as the other Arwings. Power-ups appear in risky positions. Environmental pressure changes during the round. One mistimed boost or bad angle through a corridor and the map punishes you before the enemy needs to finish the job. That constant back-and-forth between pilot skill and level hostility is what stops the same three maps from feeling repetitive after dozens of rounds. The Arwing handling underneath all of it is smooth and tight. Boost timing and lock-on precision actually matter instead of just holding forward and hoping. Small adjustments in speed and angle separate the players who are starting to read patterns from the ones still flying in straight lines. It looks sharp in motion too. The HDR makes explosions, laser fire, and environmental effects stay readable even when everything is happening at once. The sound design helps just as much in the chaos. Clear engine roar, distinct lock-on warnings, and impact feedback that cuts through the orchestral score so you can react to what is actually dangerous. The accolades system adds another layer without turning into a grind. It rewards the behaviours that make the mode interesting: smart objective play, power-up denial, aggressive but calculated lines through the map. There are enough unlocks tied to performance that you get steady progression and reasons to keep dropping in. This is the part most people pushing for more maps will not want to admit. In 2026 a lot of competitive modes assume they need constant new content and huge map pools just to hold attention. Star Fox Battle Mode is testing the opposite idea. A small set of dense, hostile playgrounds with short intense rounds and real skill expression can stay fresh longer than another bloated live service shooter that nobody ever truly masters. Doom: The Dark Ages | New Hands-On Impressions and Gameplay Full Video ▶️ ▪️"Doom 2016 was focused on run and gun, Doom Eternal evolved into jump and shoot, the core combat principle of Doom: The Dark Age is to stand and fight" ▪️The story is very prominent this time, with 'lavishly realized' cutscenes and twisted looking characters ▪️Gothic castles loom over battlefields, enemies use a mix of medieval weapons and sci-fi guns, characters are donned in plated armor, etc ▪️Previewers still found themselves moving and strafing, but the new shield allows you to hold your ground, block or parry attacks and deflect projectiles ▪️You can't deflect every attack (red means you can't, green means you can) ▪️The shield bash attack lets you speed across the battlefield and deliver a powerful crushing blow ▪️You can rev up the shield like a chainsaw and throw it, where it can bounce between lesser enemies such as Imps like a pinball, or lodged straight into stronger enemies to stun them ▪️The shield is also useful against other enemies with shields, where you can hit them with super shotgun rounds to the point their shields are molten, then throw your shield to ignite the entire group ▪️Shield is the center of combat, guns have upgrades but no more alternate fire modes so your choice of guns is "one of build synergy" (examples: rapid-fire bullets can ricochet off an enemy you lodged your shield into or bullet superheat enemies so they explode when you throw your shield at them, etc) ▪️"Seriously satisfying" using the giant Atlan assault mechs to take on Titan demons ▪️Atlan Mech Combat: Use the right trigger to unleash combos, starts to fill up a special meter, at halfway you can deliver a powerful stomp that sends a shockwave that splits open the ground where lava spills out and hurts the enemy. Filling it completely allows you to deal a finishing move ▪️You also use giant airplane hanger sized machine guns with your giant mechs. S10 Preseason Leeks 💖 The most exciting preseason for Origins is right around the corner. If everything goes well, Origins will go into maintenance for the preseason update on August 7 at 11:30 AM PHT / August 6 at 11:30 PM EST. Lets dive into the latest developments as we get ready for the S10 Preseason Launch 👇 🪜 Collectible Leaderboard As we bring much needed gameplay utility to Collectible Axies with Meta Morph, Collectible Leaderboard will serve as the true battleground for the most precious axies in Lunacia. 🔹 Prizepool of Collectible Leaderboard has been increased from 4,000 AXS to 6,000 AXS. 🔹 Collectible Leaderboard will be live for 3 weeks from Aug 7, 11:30 AM PHT to Aug 28, 11:00 AM PHT. 🔹 Era based testing will be carried out with 1 week dedicated to each era. 🔹 Preseason Cup will not be hosted during this preseason. The focus will be on Collectible Leaderboard for balance patch testing. ✨ Meta Morph After getting important feedback regarding Meta Morph from the community and further internal review, we've decided to implement the following changes: 🔹 Body parts of the morphed cards will be visually changed once battle begins. This is necessary to make it easier for players to be able to check quickly what team the opponent is playing. An example of Meta Morph visuals can be seen in the attached video below. 🔹 The bonus HP of Collectible Axies will be removed. As Collectible Axies will now be much more versatile and able to play all types of teams, the bonus HP is no longer deemed necessary. Therefore, it will be removed when the S10 Preseason launches. 🔹 Clarification around morphing: To morph into a card, player needs to have at least one NFT axie with that card in their inventory. For example: If I want to morph the back card of my collectible axie into a Cupid then I need to have at least one NFT axie with Cupid in my inventory. 🔹 Adjusted various values for the Morph process for different collectibles.
