Minister Helen McEntee TD will today launch Ireland’s newly designed Irish passport. Rooted in Ireland’s landscapes, heritage and culture, the new design reflects the story of our island while incorporating next-generation security features to protect Irish citizens around the world.

@HMcEntee Well, it’s not really their island, is it? It’s the UK and Southern Ireland’s island. The confusion, discourtesy and arrogance stemming from the Irish Free State self-identifying as Ireland when it isn’t Ireland but only a part of Ireland will never end.

@HMcEntee I am beyond upset this evening to see that you have removed the borderless map of Ireland and the wording of Article 2 of Bunreacht na hÉireann from the new passport. You can expect a parliamentary storm over this including from Fianna Fáil. You will have to get a quick redesign.
