Walz signed a bill letting all illegal immigrants get driver’s licenses in Minnesota: no citizenship needed. Now in 2025, those licenses are being used as photo ID to vote, and officials just admitted it can override incomplete voter registrations. So yeah, non-citizens can literally flash a state-issued license, sign a piece of paper saying “I swear I’m a citizen,” and vote. During the hearing, concerns were raised about how those licenses, now considered valid photo ID are being used by non-citizens to register and vote. Officials were asked whether someone without a Social Security number or full registration status could still cast a ballot if they simply presented a driver's license. If I have to show my driver's license to get my fishing license, there is no reason in Minnesota why we shouldn't have Voter ID. As governor I will work with the legislature to make sure our elections are secure, and that includes working with the legislature to pass Voter ID and signing it into law when I'm governor. I spoke about this, and other election integrity issues, during the Goodhue County GOP debate last evening:
