A couple of years ago Jimin’s former classmate in Busan Arts High School shared a vivid anecdote of Jimin's school days: "Jimin is really handsome in real life. He often wore eyeglasses and even though he ranked as the top student in the dance department he lived a typical school life. I still remember during our second-year school retreat, he danced to 'MIROTIC,' took off his glasses, and showed off his 王 abs. That day, all the girls ran to the stage because of Jimin, and the stage ended up collapsing. They even rushed to the restroom just to catch a glimpse of him, and the restroom door broke down too. It is deeply disheartening to see that Bharatanatyam, which is regarded as the mother of Indian classical dance and has survived for over 2,000 years, is being presented in such a satirical/mocking manner. Ananya Panday cannot even strike a proper posture, let alone master the mudras (hand gestures), bhangas (body positions), and navarasas (facial expressions). On a personal note, it took me five and a half years to learn Odissi from the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, and yet I still do not consider myself competent enough to perform on a grand stage. And these actresses think that practicing for a mere hour will make them master a tough classical dance form like Bharatanatyam. Shame on you, Ananya Panday.
